Purchased a 2000 Grand Cherokee on 10/19/2009. On the test drive I heard the engine knocking and the fan belt ticking. Paul told me that he would repair any issues with the engine. Also told me that he would have the emissions report ready for me when I returned. I left the truck at his lot after depositing $500. I got a call 3 weeks later that he needed more money, but the truck was still with his mechanic. He would not tell me where the truck was or when the truck would be ready or what the mechanic said about the noises. I returned to the lot on November 12. The truck was on his lot but the engine would not start. I immediately requested a refund. Of course he denied and demanded a car note to be paid. At this point I called the police to file a Lemon Law report. He still could not give me a passed emissions report on the vehicle. When asked why by the officer he claimed he did not have enough time. As if 3 weeks was not enough. He was rude and outright nasty when I asked questions about the truck. Also repeatedly avoided my questions, and changed the subject to ask about a car note. I was cursed at and the creep hung up in my face. At this point I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling about doing business with Paul Lu. I then became very suspicious like he was hiding something and being sneaky.
This man is a predator who takes advantage of consumers, and tried to sell me a piece of trash. When I described the noise to my own mechanic he said it sounded as if the engine was going bad. Also, when you sell a vehicle you have to give the customer a passed emissions report. Without it, I cannot get valid tags and registration for the truck. I refused to give him another dime of my hard earned money. Consumers should avoid this place because it is a buy here pay here lot where the cars have no warranty. I will take further action and sue him in civil court for my $500 refund. I will also call Clark Howard at the news station to report him.

You are right Jennifer! There was something he was trying to hide and I did a little research to find out what. My mom bought a Jeep Liberty from him back in December of 2009. Two weeks later the spedometer stopped working so my mom sent it back to him so that it could be repaired. He gave my mom a Chrysler Jeep in the meantime. He told my mom that as long as she kept making the payments every month towards her Jeep then she could keep the Van until the Jeep was fixed. Well shortly after, Paul Lu called my mom and told her that there was nothing he can do to fix the spedometer on the Jeep, so she can keep the Van as long as she paid every month for it. My mom never missed a payment. On February 8, 2010, my mom received a call from her insurance company. The insurance company said that her Jeep had been reported to be in an accident and they wanted to hear her side of the story. My mom told her insurance company that her Jeep had been in no wrecks, but it was in the shop getting the spedometer worked on. The insurance company informed her that Paul Lu contacted them saying that it had been in an accident. The insurance company tried to contact Paul Lu with my mom on the phone to settle the dispute, but he did not pick up the phone. On February 9, 2010 Paul Lu sent for the Van to be repossesed saying that my mom was two months late on her payment. She hadnt even had the Van or the Jeep for two months and she had her receipt from when she paid Paul Lu in January. Her next payment is due on February 15, 2010. My mom, sister, and I are going down with the police tomorrow morning because not only did he commit insurance fraud against my mom's insurance, but through research I have found out some interesting things about Paul Lu.
Paul Lu went into Bankruptcy on January 26, 2010. He first was sued by Bryan and Nina Henderson on October 14, 2009. Here is the link to te page where you can get this information; http://www.kyeb.uscourts.gov/opin/howopin/Henderson09-50596A09-5114.htm. Jennifer, I hope this helps you out a lot because my mom is taking legal action against him as well.
