Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

AAA Home Insurance - avoid.   50 years of experience with this company is behind this statement.

I'm afraid I have to agree with the number of people I've seen online complaining about the insurance services offered on house and auto through Autoclub (Autoclub of Southern Califnornia, Autoclub of America, etc).  We've been a member of Autoclub for over 50 year.  Five zero.  We've had insurance of many kinds with them in all these years including house and car and had one other incident necessitating making a claim on an under-$2000 automobile which was destroyed, while parked, by a drunk driver.  Took a while to resolve but it did resolve.

Recently, we were getting ready to get some new flooring in the house.  We emptied most of the furniture out and had the flooring delivered.  During the time the house was empty, the flooring which was awaiting installation and some other items were stolen when the house was broken into by meth heads.  The also broke the window, destroyed a security screen door, had sex on my couch, ruined the dishwasher - I guess these were meth heads uniquely interested in plate hygiene.  Etc.

Even though we've been a member for over 50 years and have mainly just been giving them money this whole time and despite the fact that this is a MINOUR Cali compared to what it could have been with a methhead infestation (copper wiring could have been stripped, etc), they are seriously making us "proove" ownership of items in the house.  In addition to claiming that recent abuse at the hands of meth heads is normal wear and tear (including a big chip in the bath tub where the window was popped out so they could enter and it hit the bath tub, and wear to the bathroom sink due to some sort of metal being scrubbed on it - AAA says it was from washing your hands repeatedly wearing a watch. Which I do not wear.  This damage was not there prior to the breakin).

Additionally, they are asking for photographs of items in the house that are missing or receipts.  Some of these items were bought many years ago.  And some of the items were power tools from our fixing the house up (all being done when the floors were being done).  The insurance agent is telling us that we need to com eup with photographs of our household power tools.  These are not tools owned by a contractor but our own personal tools.  My mom asked the guy is HE ever took pictures with HIS power tools.  The answer was no, yet still AAA is requiring this.

This claim is under $5K - way under.  I really always thought Autoclub was on our side and valued our membership.  But they're not on our side - right now they are the enemy treating us like common fraudsters and trying to nickel and dime us down and act like we are the criminals as we come to terms with being violated and after 50 years of membership and many many years of insuring multiple houses, cars, etc with them.

I believe in building long term relationships with a few choice, high character people and businesses.  I see my time and money was not well invested in this relationship.  I'd look elsewhere to find that company you can be with for 50 years.  Maybe it once was Autoclub, but it seems to me that time may be in the past.
