I booked a car with AVIS Rental Car on PriceLine-trying to get the lowest rate for a rental car while on vacation. The rate I booked at was $11/day for 5 days-totaling $134. I checked in to get my rental with AVIS Kansas City Airport, and the African American woman was extremely nice, we were chatting about why I was here...I told her I booked through PriceLine, and she continued to check me in. I was being patient and asked what kind of car am I getting-she replied with a Camry or a Jetta. I said I used to drive a Jetta, so that's the one I will choose. I declined ALL extra coverage. She was chatting with me and sign here and hit next, sign here and hit next, this means you'll fill the car up yourself, this means you're declining coverage, sign hit next. I DIDN'T Read The Screens-I went by what she was telling me. I go off and have a great vacation with my family. Drive back, fill the car up, and turn it in, that's when the young lady tells me $321, is that right??? Uh, NO!  Turns out after the very new to AVIS customer service hut at KCI, I got charged the Loss Waiver Insurance at $61, and a $20/day upgrade fee for the Jetta.  Convenienly, the manager was gone. I got names and direct numbers to call, because we had to catch a flight. I called the next day - Tuesday-Friday, leaving messages. Finally on Friday I hit the 0 for an agent, explained my situation, and was told it would be put under investigation and someone would call me within 48 hours. Still no call.  I should have read the contract on Thursday when I got it. I could have disputed it then. Now I can't get anyone to call me back, and it has put a strain on me financially-as I hadn't been prepared to pay almost TRIPLE what I booked. They RIPOFFED another customer at this location for the same thing, so if it's been reported here twice, you can bet it happened more than that!!!

I told them I didn't upgrade and declined All insurance-as my auto insurance covers rentals, and I wanted to stay at the lowest rate-so why in the world would I voluntarily opt to pay Triple???  It's a scam. Pay attention at the counter, they will distract you. Read the screens & your contract once it's printed. She even told me they were running low on cars, what a deceptive company to allow such actions!
