Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was a current student of Axia College of University of Phoenix. I started this so called accredited college September 2007. It was time for me to file my fafsa for the 2008 to 2009 year from what my financial aid counselor called and told me, so I did. I received letters from Sallie Mae about the loan amounts that Axia would receive for my classes. Axia sent me letters stating how much in all I would receive for a certain period. My Financial Aid Counselor (Kristina Dominguez) stated that everything was a go and that I would receive my next disbursement on November 2, 2008 and that my financial aid package had already been approved. Then all of a sudden a week later I am receiving a letter from Axia College saying that I am disqualified for financial aid. Now anyone that went to Axia knows that when you log on to your classes you can go to home-click on account summary and it will tell you how much you owe, what you received and the credits(this is the money you will receive from Axia in a check). Now tell me this if I was disqualified, my classes would not be paid for, right? My classes are paid for and I have a credit of $3525.96 which is suppose to come to me within 2 wks but now they are saying that I can not get my refund because I disqualify for financial aid. They pocket money that they are suppose to return to the online and campus students. This is not right, i have called my academic and financial counselor for a week straight everyday and have not received one call back. I want to know how to go about stopping them so that this does not havppen. They need to be shut down.

Frustrated as heck

Listen I understand your frustration with the finaical aid people, I myself have had NOTHING but problems with contact and more, whith my finacial aid couselor. Did you know that if you get a refund that when the bank calls to check the amount that there is ONE person who does this? ONE person for EVERYONE!! There are millions of students I am sure both online and on campus, and ONE person verifies checks!!?? Anyway I think that depeding on what state you are in you can go to the FASA website. There it will tell yout that you have student loans, TAP,PELL and EVERY amount, when it was disbursed and what amount is left to be sent. I checked mine after starting UOP and found that my privious school had over charged me and I was able to deal with them. I just googled New York State finacial aid and found a website. and here it is http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ I am sure that in order to even apply you had to get a pin? If not you just request one and when you get it you go to the site type in your info and it is all right there in front of your eyes. I wish you the best! I hope that this helps you at least a little bit!!! As for others who knock the school for having bad instructors, if you have ever been to a school, grade school to college, there is always a BAD instructor or two, maybe even three. When you realize the person is NOT doing their job that is when you eith drop the class or talk to your acedemic couns. I think that the entire point of UOP is so that people, like me, raising 4 children, working full time, and having a life beyond school, can still get an education. If it is not for you I have a sugestion, "QUIT". It is not that hard, you dont like it QUIT!

If you can not get in touch with your financial counselor call the main line and ask for their manager. You can loose your financial aid after it has been posted to your account if you are on academic disqualification. When you are on financial aid you have requirments that you have to meet in order to keep it. If you are not meeting those requirments then you will loose your financial aid and it can be sent back to your lender.
