I am writing today about Axia College, UOP, or University of Phoenix.  I have been a student going on one year now. I am starting to get fed up with a few things that make no sense to me.  First off,  Why do I get scheduled for classes (before I finish the classes I am in).  I mean, why can I not sign up for my own classes and take what I want to take in the order I deem worthy.  It's my educational experience. Other Universities let you do this.  Also, does anyone else know how hard it is to get a hold of my Financial Adviser as well as my Academic Representative?  It is so hard that I usually just give up because I am tired of dealing with it.  They only call me when it is EXTREMELY necessary.  Like they need their money for classes or they need to tell me to file for financial aid again.  That's it.  Never do I call and someone pick up the phone in their office.  Why even have a phone if students calling you are completely disregarded. The final thing that actually burst my bubble is financial aid money.  I complete the requirements to make it "my money" and yet they do silly things.  Like the latest thing was: I was told that they had to hold money on my account for the final two classes I will be taking for my academic year.  That makes sense. What does not make sense is they only scheduled me for one class. They are holding money back for a none exsistent class. Oh, and the mailed report of how they spent my financial aid and the student account on the ecampus website is completely different. I want to know how really financial aid is being spent. Now, I do believe they only have the right to withhold money that is for financial obligation for the student and no more than that.  I am a full time student at Axia, who relies on the money I am to get back to help pay bills. Yet, I am shorted because they find ways to spend my financial aid...very unnecessarily.

UOP - I Think You Are Wrong

I just want it to be known that I have switched Academic Adviser and Financial Adviser 3 times now.  My Academic Representative is a new one, and she is the first one I have yet to have a problem with.  She actually gets back in touch with me.  Now,  you are very mistaken.  I take out extra money on my loans.  This extra money is used to pay my bills as it is what is left after I pay my educational expense.  Now, due to federal law this is allowed and before hand when it was private loans that money was mine.  Because, my credit was on the line.  I took those loans out, I have to repay those loans, not UOP.  So, the money is completely mine, and I even signed over my rights of spending it to you.  As you only spend it for the classes I am too take.  So, when you say it's not to pay my bills.  It is completely to pay my bills as my educational expenses are done.  So, just remember this.  I probably will continue my classes out and deal with this horrible program because first of all.  I have been reading several reports about how UOP harasses students and up the total balances due back because these students decided to leave. Also, none of the credits for this degree program will transfer to another school (I had a enrollment adviser at Kent State tell me this)  Now, I can see why they leave.  Also, how do you explain the graduation rate of 16% which is lower than the national average of 24%. Oh, that's right the Apollo President said it was due to "...expanding horizons."  Another thing, you want to answer the question of how more than half the budget for federal loans goes directly to UOP and you have less and less students each year, but this number keeps going up.  Oh, and the last thing, want to explain to me, how UOP only has accreditation in southeast portion of the United States and not in a Nation wide stature.  Oh, that's because with UOPs low statistics the accreditation board would deny you.  Because, UOPs accreditation is as old as the school, because UOP only did it once.

I know what you mean about UOP.  Don't listen to the staff member who answered your post they are scam artists!  Finish your degree at a reputable college.  Do you notice how they have like 5 different names?  I think that's to keep to keep from being blown up on the internet.  Even on this site.  Do a search for Phoenix University and you get like 2 pages of complaints.  Do a search for Axia College and they have like 15 pages of complaints.  Do a search for UOP or Apollo and even more complaints.  These people don't care about you.  They care about your money.  And they will burn you!  You are on the right track!  Get away from them!

I'm sorry that you are going through all of this, I can definately tell that you are frustrated.  My students never have issues getting a hold of me.  I suggest that you call your original enrollment counselor and see if he or she can help you get a hold of your finance counselor.  I wish that all of the employees at every company were worthy but unfortunately... there are a few bad apples everywhere.  I make sure to explain all of the classes to my students before they enroll.  The reason you are not going through tons of class choices is because we want you to graduate in a speedy amount of time. We guarantee that your class will be available and save your slot from the get go.  If you are working on your associates, chances are you are doing mostly gen ed classes...  My concern is that you need that money to pay bills.  As you know, that money is for educational expenses and not intended to help you bay your regular bills.  Contact your enrollment counselor.. and believe me... getting a hold of your finance/academic counselor at a traditional college is NOT EASIER by any means.  There you are just a name and a number and they really don't care whether you make it or not.  I'm betting that was not your experience with us.  We pretty much check on you every single week and call you if you are low on attendance.  Good luck!  Please finish your degree...
