We received a call to buy a discounted vacation package from Bahamas Royal Vacationer for stay at resorts in Florida, Bahamas, and Mexico for $498. Aware of what I thought were the "hidden" tricks, I asked frequently what the additional charges would be. The seller confirmed to me on a recorded line that I would also be only responsible for airfare, one-way transportation, tips, and daily resort fees ranging from $15-$25/night depending on the resort. He also confirmed to me that there were no black-out dates or additional charges for reserving my trips during weekends or holidays. Again, right before I purchased, I specifically asked if there are any other fees, and he assured me there weren't. A couple days later I received my confirmation email, and followed the link to the bahamasroyal.com website to verify that there weren't any hidden fees mentioned in their terms. There weren't, and the email itself never mentioned the terms (red flag).

Flash forward two months when I call to reserve a trip, and rep stated that I would have to pay a fee of $25/night just to reserve my trips, in addition to the resort fees ($20/night), taxes, and incidentals (tips, transportation, airfare). She also said that I might have to pay extra for reserving on a holiday. When we told her that the salesman specifically told us the opposite, that no other fees would be charged, she said that it was listed in the terms on their website.

Low and behold, I went to terms & conditions and NOW it is listed. This HAS to be a recent update as it wasn't listed on their website when we purchased, AND we were never informed of any changes. They basically changed the contract after we purchased. That's like buying a car, and after signing an agreement, the seller says oh I changed it, now I need to collect an extra amount for fees. It's stupid!

BEWARE of this tactic. IF you purchase a vacation plan and they put terms and conditions on their website ONLY, know they can update those terms and lie that they were there the whole time. Take a screenshot of the contract terms when you purchase so you can verify what they are.
