Complaint Review: Baja Brent - Nationwide

Over 90 days ago this report was anonymously filed by an “Ed” of “San Diego”. Feel free to surf the web and find ANY such claims corroborated by anyone else:   there are none!  Not only are there none in the last 90 days, there are none in the past 18 years, which is how long BajaBrent has rented vacation properties; hosted the Baja, B & B; and managed a paragliding flight park in Baja! 

18+ years 6000+ guests, and only this ONE  report! And Ed's report is full of defamatory falsehoods:

 1) BajaBrent DOES NOT forfeit guest security deposits

2) All deposits arr through online banking transactions NOT cash or direct deposits pursuant to written contract.  This protects both sides of the transactions

3) BajaBrent properties are ALWAYS cleaned before/after guest departure. 

4) BajaBrent properties have ALL BEEN RENOVATED since the summer of 2014

5) Bajabrent has NEVER been convicted of a Felony;

6) BajaBrent has NEVER been disbarred from the practice of law.

 ALL OF ED'S CONTRARY STATEMENTS ARE LIBELOUS, DEFAMATORY, UNTRUE AND MISLEADING. And likewise are ALL the BS stories about Baja Brent and his life in Mexico.  IF there is ANY truth, there would be other complaints online.  (NOTE: there is another ANONYMOUSLY authored website, against Baja Brent and managed by Ed , but for the same reasons listed here is likewise bogus).  

The Anonymous “Ed” author is “Michael 'Edwin' Purdy”; aka “Mike Purdy”, aka “Michael Purdy”, aka “Michael Edwin” aka “Edwin Purdy” or just plain “Ed Purdy”.  All of these are his known aliases. As it is HE who is on the run hiding from USA justice! He has had to change his name several times in the last few years because of the people who HE has ripped-off, continues to rip off, and is conniving to rip-off more as I write. He is being hunted! 

So why would Mikey attack me?  Revenge!  Michael/Ed came to Baja in 2010 having known me for @ 5 years in the ultralight/paragliding community. He saw my success in Baja, and decided he wanted to be BajaBrent!

 He came to La Salina and opened a powered ultralight training school and B & B.   But due to his greed and incompetence, he needed to swindle friends, associates, and his own students to survive.

 I also was a victim. I foolishly,---against the advice of many-- trusted him with one of my businesses.   First he paid me w/ a rubber check for $500: it never cashed. Next by manipulating my connections I introduced him to, he forced me off the flight park I had managed for 15 years.( BTW: I am NOW once again, back in charge of my beloved flight park. Life is good!)

In 2012/13 a number of his victims compared notes and figured out his scam. Numerous, criminal and civil complaints were filed on both sides of the border. Most are gringos with which entertains Michael as he hides in Ensenada, immune from the US justice system. Frustrated, some of them wrote Ripoff reports. Some of the victims are very big in the ultralight flying community. So his flight school was doomed, once word spread on the web. 

According to the few who have spoken with Michael, he refuses to accept any responsibility whatsoever. So in the end,  he needed to blame someone and apparently that's BajaBrent!

Oh and by the way, how am I so sure this is Mike's handwork?  Because Michael Edwin Purdy's last known US address is in Coronado, the same suburb Anonymous “Ed” claims on the report! Several sources confirm.  Just see Ed's report then google Michael Purdy, and confirm.  

Now I have ONE bogus ripoff report, against me.  Meanwhile, Michael Purdy, et. al. has a WHOLE “FAN CLUB” of  Rip-off report victims.  Furthermore, NONE are cowards like Ed. His victims wrote specific complaints;( e.g. lost deposits, stolen property, theft etc) AND disclosed their REAL identity. Michael knows about all and has NEVER replied!  Just plug in his name (s) above and also search BajaPPG.com (his defunct company).

 Incredibly Michael has almost as many “VICTIM-FANS” on Ripoff reports than he has FRIENDS on Facebook! Go there and put in “Michael Purdy Ensenada”. Michael has @ 15 friends on Facebook as of today, most are family. There are 10+ reports about Michael on RR!

 With regard to my legal issues in Ohio from the mid 90's. I was married and practiced law in Ohio beginning in 1990. In 1996, my 34 year old wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was the love of my life, so I retired my practice so I could devote full time as her caretaker.  We moved to So Cal and Baja to seek alternative treatment. Unfortunately she passed away. I was devastated. During the care-taking time and the grief period, that followed, I neglected several pending legal matters back in Ohio.

 Finally, in 1999 I “manned up” to my problems. In spite of all the gobble-g**k in Ed's report, it boiled down to this: I plead into a single misdemeanor drunk driving charge and a misdemeanor tax charge. I did a few days in jail, and paid the penalties, all done by 2000! I was never convicted of a felony.

 Likewise, I have NEVER been disbarred! When I closed the practice, I refunded $20,000+ in retainers to @ 30 clients.  Although issued, one client apparently did not receive his $289 refund.  Due to our departure, (we were living in a motor home), I had no forwarding address nor was I aware. When I learned of the matter, he was fully refunded. 

Finally NONE of those Ohio matters of 15-20 years ago have ANYTHING to do with my businesses on the west coast! The SOLE PURPOSE of Michael/Ed's report is to smear me, and dissuade  potential customers/guest from patronizing my wonderful beach properties. 

If given the opportunity, you will discover I---BajaBrent have nice beach rentals;, a beautiful BnB on the sand; and I own operate the finest ultralight/paragliding flight park in all of Baja! I am a legal permanent Mexican resident w/ a right to conduct business here. I'm well known and liked in Baja and Baja Businesses. PS ED: you really need to get some professional help, quit the con-jobs,  MAN UP; and face the justice that awaits you north of the border.  Quit attacking/conning decent hard working folk.

I recently found this Ripoff Report Posted by 'Ed' of San Diego bashing Baja Brent. I know who Ed really is he is none other than Michael Purdy of Baja PPG, And this is nothing more than a smear piece intending to defame Brent Patterson, Aka Baja Brent who runs a nice little Bed and breakfast business and flying Site at La Salina. Baja MX

 I met Brent 15 years ago as a paramotor pilot needing a place to stay near La Salina. I have stayed at his accommodations on multiple occasions over that time, and recommend him to anybody looking for a place to stay. It's not the Ritz and he doesn't sell it that way. Its a clean reasonably priced place to stay, surrounded by  fellow paraglider, paramotor and hang glider pilots for a reasonable price.

 If you read 'Eds' report you will notice that he makes no specific claims about personally having issues with Brent, but instead makes a bunch of derogatory comments and innuendo not based in fact. Do not be misled by 'Ed' aka Michael Purdy. Check out a report on this website for Baja PPG and or Michael Purdy and you will have a better idea of what this is about. This is Retaliation and not based in fact. Baja Brent is a good guy and this report is a bunch of bull.
