Bank of America is stealing money from its customers.

I am from Dallas. I have a joint acount with my dad in Bank of America but I don't use it because I switched to another bank as soon as possible because they were stealing money from me by depositing less than I actually deposited. One time I went to one of their branches located on Coit Road.

I deposited $590 in form of a check. When I got my statement, I noticed that actual deposit was $560. They told me it was a human error. It took almost 3 weeks to get my money back. However, my dad still complaints that very often when he deposits money, they deposit less than he actually deposited. Especially, they like to do it when part of your deposit is in form of cach because it is harder to prove that you deposited it.

Sometimes he notice it when they give him his deposit receipt, so they say "Ops",and correct it. Sometimes, they just make a mistake in a statement, hoping that noone would notice. Biggest rip off they did to my dad was a month ago, when they "missed" $1,900.00 They opened so called investigation and found money in about 10 days. This was deposited in form of a check and little bit of cash. Again, they said "we are sorry," I, personally, never going to have any business with Bank of America. Also, I advise other people be careful when you receive your bank statements and make sure you don't have any "Opss" in there too.

I've had 2 things happen to me with Bank of America. 1-they placed an immediate credit to my cheque acct., when i deposited a supposedly good cashier's cheque, a cheque that a supervisour at a westside Scottsdale, Ariz. branch said that it was a cashier's cheque and looked good, instead of placing a 7-10day hold because the cheque was issued and drawn off a acct frm a different bank, located out of state. Long story short, i was being paid for a job by an out of state company, when teller's computer said,"cheque verified, funds good," i didn't think anything of it. 7 days later, said cheque bounced and overdrew my acct by $2000,00! apparently, the cheque was bogus, and i've been victimised by a scam company. For nearly a week, b of a's been giving me a runaround about the real reason why that cheque got returned. they should've placed that cheque on hold until it fully cleared as per most other banks' policy regarding cheque deposit. if they would've did that, none of this grief would've happened; professional courtesy to a long time acct.holder be damned! the other thing that happened to me came from their credit card dept. i recently, involuntarily lost my job, about 2yrs. ago and had trouble finding work and making payments to my b of a visa card. the acct went delinquent and sold off to a bottomfeeder collection bureau, but, not before b of a made a slanderous claim against me, to said collection bureau and to the credit bureaus. B of a claimed that since opening that credit card acct in apr., 2006, i have not made 1 payment what-so-ever on this acct! I knew this to be false and when i tried to correct this mistake on their part, this young, coloured sounding cust. svc. agent got rude with me on the phone, saying things like: your acct's been sold! i can't help you anymore, and: i have other callers! She rushed me of the phone and wouldn't transfer me to her supervisour! These agents are supposed to be professional and this agent exhibits this kind of behaviour to me?! jamais encore!/never again! I'll never deal with Bank of America again after i take care of my overdrawn cheque acct., and because of their claim against me on my visa card, when i have irrefutable evidence to the contrary, i plan to dispute this so-called debt with them! there could be others who've been victimised in some way by b of a. To those who have yet to deal with B of A, don't bother. Save yourself some grief and money; take your business to a different bank, like Chase, US Bank, Comerica, etc.

I don't doubt you had serious problems in getting them to correct errors. I am an Advantage customer..... My husbands SS# has been the victim of identity theft! Bank of America refuses to close any accounts opened by an illegal alien using my husbands social security number. Even though we already had accounts with them using THAT #. We have wrestled for four months the accounts are still open, and they refused to close them. They also refuse to quit providing credit information for this individual fraudulently using my husbands SS#. The 800 number is a joke, and any of the check fraud claims departments act like we are the one defrauding the bank. This fraud perpetrated by Bank Of America including validating the illegal SS# to Ford Motor Credit for the purpose of allowing the illegal to purchase vehicles(3) totaling almost 80K. It is also possible they are holding 170K in mortgages for the illegal which they will not reveal even though a signed FTC ID THEFT affidavit was presented to them. Including local Police report. California Law for ID thefts state they must reveal any information used to perpetrate ID Theft....they refuse to do so. Want to see how deep the rabbit hole is--> http://badbusinessbureau.com/view.asp?id=47790 They have lost all credibility with me, and my family's buisiness.

Bank of America is so dedicated to customer service. We spend a better portion of our days searching for ways to make our customers banking experience an outstanding one.

A "Big Thanks" to William of Tallahassee for his input on the "even if it was a bank error" and his 'sitting in the meeting' comments. He has only given me more ammunition in filing my complaint about BofA holding my money as I reported earlier in my own "Rip Off" complaint. Linda of Buena Park

Sarah is correct! I was a VP with NationsBank now Bank of America for many years......I had to leave when i actually sat in a meeting and heard with my own ears that we would no longer be allowed to waive a fee.....even if incurred by bank error if it was not a "plus" customer. Come on! In other words people, if you don't keep a MINIMUM of $5000 in your checking account BofA could care less about you! And even the magic of "servqual" does not seem to make most front line associates give a d**n about customer service.....although in essence, it is not their fault...the staffing models have been cut so severely that it is IMPOSSIPLE to offer good service....which is why they are loosing 2.4 customers to every one new account....

Unlike the other two people, I USED to be an employee of Bank of America. I would most definately be suspicious of the missing money, especially in the form of cash, if it was a simple mistake, then when the teller balanced their drawer at the end of the day they would be off in their cash count.

As for the person saying that Bank of America doesn't steal money from it's customers...bull. They might not steal it right out of your hands, but I'm sorry I really don't the BofA can justify the monthly maintenance fees for their different accounts.

Also, as far as saying that you believe BofA is too polite to their customers even though some of them are rude...let's be honest, could your politeness possibly be because of the fact that if your "servqual" is high enough you get a bonus? Don't go around acting like BofA is the best bank around because we all know that that simply isn't true.

My husband is in the military, and as you well know, BofA is the only bank that andles "military Banking" so any military issued Credit Cards come out of BofA, well my h usband is still waiting for his replacement card he should have received back in December. Not only are BofA employees rude, money grubbing, and moronic, they also tend to be slow.

I recomend to everybody, if you have the chance, open an account at a credit union.

I have worked for Bank of America for a little over a year now, and I know just from working there we treat our customers very good..I have been a Bank of America customer for about 6 years now and have never had a problem..I deal with customers every day and yes sometimes the bank does make mistakes but we do everything we can to correct the problem asap. The Bank does not steal customers money..Sometimes I feel we treat our customers too nice, even though some can be really rude..

I have worked for Bank of America for some time now and I would have to say that the problem's that this lady and her father have had are to do with that particular branch, not all Bank of America's. I would have delt with things alot diffrent than the tellers there. You shouldn't blame the entire bank for one branches mistakes,or ripoff's.
