The newer BofA ATMs read currency instead of utilizing envelopes. This is good in theory, but the machines don't read all the bills. As a consequence, if you didn't deposit enough cash then your account gets hit with fees.

The ATM near me has a chronic problem with reading bills, although the Branch Manager indicates it's a consistent problem overall. They have submitted documentation to the ATM department to fix the "software problem".

On 4/27/08, I tried to deposit $38 but the machine only took $6. On 4/29/08, my account was hit with three $35 fees. They will not reverse them. I spoke to a supervisor named Jared (#1580) and a woman named Sandra (#8399) in Customer Solutions. They indicated that since Jared had reversed four fees on 5/5/08 for another reason, that these separate three fees for the ATM problem could not be reversed.

So, in essence, the bank just wants to keep my money it stole from my account. Their ATM machines are still being "troubleshooted" and meanwhile half of the cash ATM deposits I make are not fully received. They HAVE reimbursed more recent fees for the same reason, but they will not reverse these fees. There is no logic or explanation other than them literally saying, "We can't do it" that she looked at it and like Jared "She can't do it". AS if the system won't allow them to do it!!!!

We need to sue them, other gone through this?

If I were you, this is what I would do: When I went to make a cash deposit I would fan out the cash and hold it up to the ATM's camera. Then, one by one, feed the bills into the machine making it account for each bill individually. If it read one of the bills wrong, I would immediately call the customer service line and complain. The logged complaint calls along with the video of you showing the bills to the camera should be more than enough to force them to waive any fees that might result from their faulty equipment. Good luck
