I have been a customer of Barclay\'s since August 2004. I have always paid my credit card on time, usually right after the closing date. I also generally pay off the entire balance each month. In August 2009, I paid off the total balance of my August statement. I then paid off the balance early for the September statement on August 31. My August statement payment was due on August 28, so this was after that statement period. My September statement closed on September 3. On September 2 one transaction was posted of $49.99. So my total Septmember statement should have been $705.53. However, since I made the early payment, my balance was only $49.99. On September 29, I was charged with a late payment fee of $39.00 even though I had made a much bigger payment then the balance that was left on August 31. After speaking with several different customer representatives, I was told that although I had a great credit record, had never had a late payment, this fee would not be waived as I should not have paid early.
Therefore, since I paid my bill too early, I was charged a fee that was 80% of my balance. I did nothing wrong paying the balance early and I should not have to pay this fee. This is truly usury that they would charge a good customer such an unwarranted fee. This is horrible customer service and poor business practice. You would think that when Frontier is struggling to stay in business they would treat their loyal costumers fairly. Apparently not.

They did the same thing to me. I had $3600 of cc debt and when i received my income tax return, I paid off the 2 with the highest balances and kept my Juniper card because it had lowest interest rate and lowest credit line. Well, 2-3 months after paying off my Chase card, they sent me a bill for $1. Yes. $1. I called them to tell them the acct was closed and they argued that it certainly was not. I asked them what the charge was from and they were ambiguous and vague, never giving me an explanation. Told them I wasn't paying it and they could shove it up their a*s.
The day my Juniper payment was due, a couple of months after this incident, I paid online but not until after 7pm which constitutes the next business day making me late. Fine. Well, I received my statement and found the $40 late fee put me over my credit line and was charged another $40 for that. I can accept these things, afterall, it was my fault. However, my subsequent billing statement indicated that my interest rate had gone from 7.9% to 26.9%. I called customer service to find out how long it would remain at 26.9 and they said, "indefinitely." I told them I'd call them right back because I wanted to see if I had money available in my business acct to pay off the balance, and indeed i did. Called them back and told them that rate was unacceptable and that I wanted the payoff balance and wished to close the account. I made the lady I spoke to repeat to me twice, "this acct is closed."
Well, 2 months later, I received another billing statement from them saying I owed $12 because they had allowed a transaction from classmates.com (whom I had not been active with for at least 3 months) to go through. I told them I had closed the acct a little over 2 months ago and they said, "no, you didn't." I said, well go f yourselves because I'm not paying it. Now it's over $300. I'm not going to play this game with them. What would stop them from doing it again? They are dirty b**tards andare a symptom of what's wrong in this country presently. I'll never have another credit card as long as they are allowed to make up the rules as they go along. Because of this bs, and the bs from Chase, I was unable to qualify for a mortgage in my name so that I and my son could move out of the apt we'd been living in and build equity. Over $13. If there is a hell, there will be a special place for those a**holes.
