Wow. This is EXACTLY what happened to me, except there's a "twist" in the end. I paid off my credit card in FULL ON TIME!!!!!! I was charged $1 when I did not make ANY purchases. I called to make a complaint and the first person I spoke to told me she would waive the late fee if I paid the $1, well she didn't! Instead I got another late fee the next month, an interest fee PLUS a higher interest rate!! Now..The second person I spoke to, said she couldn't waive the first fee because it was a "valid" late fee charge and she could not do anything about it, but she would waive the second fee. I asked then WHY did the first person tell me she would waive the fee and cause all this BS? she just apologized for the inconvenience. I was 4 days away from the due date, she told me to pay for the 2 late fees just in case this payment posted late and she will refund the first fee.
By the way, if this is happening to you, tell them you want to pay only for ONE late fee and they can count that as refunding you the first BS late fee, this will save you a lot of time and grief when you find out what they are going to do next.
Keep in mind that I paid the late fee, interest..etc all of this 4 days BEFORE the due date and thought this was going to be put behind me for the last time. The next month rolls by and I get another statement from them...saying that I owe $1.20 for an interest fee upon a late fee because I paid the last statement LATE. ????????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 days before due date! I pay ALL of my bills on the same day and this payment was written and documented in my records 4 days BEFORE IT WAS DUE!!!!
I called and the 3rd person insisted that the payment was made late. So it's basically their words against mine and when their computer posted my payment. He told me they could not refund my first late fee because the second person actually waived the supposed 3RD late fee!!!!!!! I asked to speak to the previous rep, he REFUSED.
My god, don't get this card! The way they do business is through either deception or they hire a bunch of monkeys to serve as reps! Save yourself the trouble, there are thousands of other cards out there.

I have a credit card with Juniper and I never had this problem. Not saying it didn't happen but I suggest that you consider paying your bills online. I find this to be a much easier process than mailing in your payment. You can actuallly set it up to have it drafted right on the due date or before. Doing this you can see that the payment was posted and to see if there's any other charges left out there and make corrections. This would be a pretty bad company to charge someone a $39 late fee for 5 cents.
