Bauer Investigations Grant Bauer Rip off. Failure to pay wages, A very disorganized detective agency Albuquerque, New Mexico
Bauer Investigations is a RIPOFF. I had a bad feeling when Grant Bauer called and offered me a job... At first I thought that they were just small and unorganized. Now I'm pretty sure that they are just con artist. They wanted me to work a case 4 hours away. I called into the office to arrange a hotel for the case. Grant informed me that it is their company policy for investigators to drive to the hotel then call the office to have them make the reservation.... WTF!
So the day before the case I called to request a formal employment offer letter (Since they never sent one.) They never sent me any Human resources or TAX forms! They sent the letter and I headed to the case. Once I arrived near the hotel I called them to have them make my reservation. I had to wait in the lobby for an hour while they made my reservation. Then to top it off, they only made my reservation for one day. (It was a three day case! ) I informed them of this error and nothing was done. So the next day the hotel called while I was on surveillance and said that I needed to have them extend my reservation or I needed to leave the room. I had to call them again to get it fixed. After the case was over they attempted to send me out of state and they didn't want to provide a hotel for a case that was 317 miles AWAY!
It has been 8 1/2 weeks since I worked the case for them and I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN PAID!

WELL, LET'S SEE, WE HAVE SOMEONE WHO STATES THEY ARE FROM KANSAS AND THEY ARE TAKING WHAT APPEARS TO BE A SUBCONTRACTED INVESTIGATING JOB FROM SOMEONE IN NEW MEXICO?
HOW DID THIS GUY IN NEW MEXICO KNOW ABOUT YOU??
PEOPLE WHO WORK AS AN OPERATIVES FOR LICENSED PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS SHOULD INSIST ON BEING PAID IN CASH OR IT IS NO GO. YOU GIVE UP THE INFO AT THE SAME TIME THE INVESTIGATOR GIVES YOU THE CASH. TRY IT. IT IS A GOOD POLICY.
IF YOU ARE AN INVESTIGATOR, I GUESS YOU CHECKED THIS AGENCY OUT WITH THE NEW MEXICO STATE AGENCY THAT LICENSES PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS TO SEE IF THIS PLACE WAS EVEN LICENSED AND REGISTERED WITH THEM. I WOULD HAVE BEFORE I EVER DID BUSINESS WITH THEM.
AND WHEN YOU CALLED THE LICENSING AGENCY, YOU ALSO ASKED IF ANY COMPLAINTS HAD EVER BEEN FILED ON THIS PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR?
AND YOU REALIZED THAT YOU WERE GOING TO BE AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR? THAT MEANS THAT YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING YOUR OWN INCOME TAXES ON WHATEVER HE PAYS YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT A REGULAR EMPLOYEE, YOU ARE A HIRED GUN BEING CALLED IN TO WORK A CASE FOR HIM . YOU WILL NOT GET A W-4, YOU KEEP TRACK OF WHAT HE IS PAYING YOU BECAUSE YOU WILL BE PAYING THE TAXES ON IT --NOT HIM.
BEST WAY FOR HIM, IF HE PAYS YOU NOTHING. PURE PROFIT AND HE GETS TO WRITE OFF THE HOTEL EXPENSES.
YOU ARE A LICENSED PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR AREN'T YOU?
IF YOU THINK THIS GUY IS RIPPING YOU OFF,YOU NEED TO REPORT HIM TO THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION OF THE IRS AND YOU NEED TO REPORT HIM TO THE NEW MEXICO STATE AGENCY THAT LICENSES PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS.TELL THEM WHAT HE DID TO YOU AND THAT HE WILL NO DOUBT BE POCKETING THE MONEY HE DID NOT GIVE YOU AS NON-REPORTED INCOME.
SOUNDS LIKE TO ME YOU ONLY HAD A VERBAL AGREEMENT. I HOPE YOU KEPT EVIDENCE OF YOUR HOTEL STAY OR SOME OTHER EVIDENCE THAT YOU ACTUALLY HAD DEALINGS WITH HIM ( YOUR PERSONAL PHONE BILL PRINTOUT SHOULD COUNT AS PROOF THAT YOU TWO CONVERSED) .
SOMEHOW I DOUBT IF YOU HAVE HAD MUCH PRIVATE INVESTIGATION EXPERIENCE AFTER READING HOW YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD A JOB AS IN PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT WITH HIM AND HE MEANT THAT HE HAD A JOB FOR YOU AS IN ONE INVESTIGATION.
YOU MAKE IT SEEM LIKE THIS GUY WANTS TO GET OTHER PEOPLE TO DO WORK FOR HIM HE SHOULD BE DOING FOR HIMSELF. I KNOW HIS CLIENT IS GOING TO BELIEVE HE DID THE WORK AND HE WILL BE PAID FOR IT LIKE HE DID IT.
WHAT CONCERNS ME IS HOW DID HE KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO GET THE INFORMATION THAT HE WANTED? WHERE WAS THE QUALITY CONTROL?
TELL HIM TO PAY YOU WHAT HE OWES YOU OR NO MORE WORK.
MAYBE YOU SHOULD RECONSIDER YOUR CAREER CHOICE.
