Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I just bought a car in June 2007. I was told at the dealership that my first payment would be due around the beginning of August. (Come to find out it was 7/27/07; not that this matters, really). I was supposed to receive a statement from BB&T, and never did.

On August 7, 2007, I received a call from BB&T as a "courtesy call" that I have a payment due, which is when I found out that it was due 7/27/07. I told the rep that I never received a statement. Her response was,"This happens alot with first payments which is why we are calling you".

I was a bit miffed that now I have a "late" payment and one coming due again soon. I contacted the BBB and filed a complaint. A rep from BB&T called me, which was a joke and accomplished nothing but raise by blood pressure. She attempted to dumb me down by saying "If you buy a house, you have to pay for it; a car is no different" Duh-really??? She wasn't getting the fact that I never received a statement.

Furthermore, anyone out there familiar with their website-just try and get someone on the phone, let alone figure out what bank in what state you need to deal with...all without a statement. She also said that there were notes made in the "system" that stated that they had tried to contact me on several occasions starting in July and someone kept hanging up on them.

This made me the angriest, because it's a total lie! I was forced into bankruptcy several years ago and am working diligently to improve my credit to where it had been. The last thing I need is to start a relationship with a bank like this.

As it turns out, on 8/10/07, I received a statement for the amount of last month and this month's payment, and mailed it. I told the rep this the day,(twice) that she called me in response to the BBB complaint. The next morning, another rep called my home and spoke to my husband. They wanted to know (again) if the payment had been mailed, and threatened that this would go against our credit.

A little bit of advice to anyone contemplating using this bank; don't. It's the BANK FROM HELL! On a good note, I have refinanced my car and will be thankfully dealing with another company who I hope will be an improvement.

Glad to know that some people have nothing better to do than skim this website to make 'better than thou' comments. To DAVE in Florida, or wherever you're from, I'm glad to know you're so perfect....I DO NOT have a problem admitting that I made a mistake going on the car dealer's word about when my payment was due. That doesn't change the fact that I never received a statement, and didn't really expect one, yet....I have more to do with my time. I've dealt with GMAC in the past; no beef there. You take some time, (obviously, you have plenty of it) and call some of the phone numbers on BB & T's website and try to talk to A PERSON. You need to be careful about your comments my friend. Whether you know it, or not, it IS okay to stand up for what you believe is wrong. Let me guess, DAVE, are you the president of BB&T????

Was calling the BBB. Judging from your attitude, I am going to say that you do this a lot. Ok, so they didn't send a statement. When I leased my vehicle from GMAC, they didn't send one either. I called 1 month after signing the contract to let them know, they said NO PROBLEM. They sent one immediately and I paid it - No late fees. It is quite obvious that you have an attitude problem. Instead of working it out with the bank you immediately file a BBB report against them. It is also quite obvious that you believe the world is out to screw you - "I was FORCED into bankruptcy". Please.
