I went into the bank to withdraw 20 dollars. I have 2 checking accounts with this same bank. The Teller allowed me to withdraw 20 dollars from an account with a zero balance although the second checking account had over 20 dollars in it. Then the bank charged me 35 dollars for withdrawing funds from the wrong account. The Teller never told me I did not have 20 dollars in the first account. He allowed the transaction to go through. When I caught the mistake the bank refused to credit my account for this honest mistake. They told me the Teller who gave me the money out of the wrong account could not see my balance in their computer system. If they had simply looked at my accounts they could have told me that I needed to take the money out of the second account.

This bank is nothing but a ripoff. They call themselves the best bank in town when in fact they are the worst bank I have dealt with. I have nothing but problems with them. My recommendations to anyone thinking about signing up with them for banking services IS DON'T DO IT!!

Steve

To quote you.." but since the new regulations don't cover teller transactions it would be allowed"..

Are you sure the teller is "allowed" to permit a withdrawal that will bring the account into OD without a least informing the customer? Just a question..not trying to start another war.

And assuming the teller is "allowed" to process a withdrawal without at least informing the customer that they do not have enough funds available in the account.. should be looked into? I mean would the average customer not think that the safest possible way to conduct a transaction would be face to face with a teller since we all know how "unreliable" the online statement is..and the fact that human beings (humans, not you), can at times make a mistake?

Or, is it in your mind okay for the bank to take advantage of honest mistakes? I guess that was a dumb question for you as it is quite apparent a victim kicker will only see the banks side..but I question it...yes that is right..I question it.

Not the bank

It is not the bank's fault that you choose to withdraw money out of the wrong account. They are not responsible for managing your account. If you have two accounts it is your responsibility to take double the responsibility of managing them.

But I wonder if there is more to your story than you are saying. It is not normal for a personto go out of their wayto go inside a bank and withdrawonly $20. Could it be that you tried to withdraw it from the ATM and that was declined. So you went inside to do the withdraw. Because if you did not "opt-in" to the automatic overdraft coverage you will be declined at an ATM, but since the new regulations don't cover teller transactions it would be allowed.

Next time, write a check or use your ATM card!

All you have to do is write a check or use your ATM card.

This way, the accounts cannot get mixed up except by you.

Stupid and lazy does not equal ripoff.

And, WHY would you need 2 accounts if one has zero dollars in it? What about your monthly fee? How would that be covered with zero dollars? You obviously do not meet the minimum balance requirements for free checking.

FYI...I currently bank with BB&T and have never had a problem since I opened my account there 4 years ago. No problems at all.

Your error. Not a rip off.
