Where did my money go? I know that after I sold some property and made my deposit into BB&T I had money, then after one month of having money, it just started disappearing. When I questioned my local office they replied that I had spent it. I kept track of all of my purchases and watched my online activity, but the money was just gone.

I have never had any problems with banking until BB&T bought out our little hometown bank called The Home Bank. Since then money started being taken out and then after a couple of weeks there would be a deposit I didn't make. All I could figure out was that someone in the bank who thought I wasn't paying attention was taking my funds for their own purpose and then putting all or some of the money back. I could never balance my check book because I wasn't the one getting the money or putting it back. The bank even blamed my husband. He didn't have a checkbook or a debit card. If he needed money I got it out of the bank for him.

I don't know how the bank works, I could never figure that out. All I know is that everytime I tried to talk to someone they would pass the buck on to someone else. I never got a straight answer, they don't want to give me one either. The company has plenty of internal issues that need to be investigated. I know I'm not the only one out their who has experienced this. I just wish some one could put a stop to it. The times are hard enough right now without having to worry about the bank taking money out of blue collar workers checking accounts.

I have been fighting my case with BB&T and Bank of America for over 8 years. WE are set to go to trial this Nov. 6, 2008 in Hopewell, Va. Don't ever give up fighting if the Banks have done you wrong, that's what they want you to do. I know it's hard to fimd a Lawyer to take a case against a Bank but if you don't give up you will find a Lawyer who will listen. I have 8 charges against these (2) Banks, including consperency between the two banks. Keep writing and Blogging and fighting. I felt helpless and it's hard at times to continue, but I have Marched and Picketed in front of the Banks, passed out Fliers, emails to Congress men and woman, The FDIC, OCC, Treasure Dept. State Governors, Attorney Generals. Good luck, Carlton (((email redacted))) CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

While online the details may be vague - on the month end statement, they should have more than enough details for you to be able to balance your checkbook. Such as: Checks with #s Check card use as a credit card should have the merchant info listed Check card use as an ATM withdrawal should say "ATM" If someone is putting money in or taking it out via misc. transactions, that too should be listed and they should be able to send you copies of the original deposit slip and/or request for funds. Keep arguing up the food chain but do it in writing!

Go to the branch and set down with the manager. They can pull up the transactions and tell you how they are being made (debit card, check, etc). In the case of the deposits they can tell you how (ATM, teller, etc) and where they are being made. If made with the teller they should be able to pull copies of the deposit slips to see whose name is on the slip. You may want to consider filing fraud charges on these transactions to include closing your account and openeing a new one so that your account & routing number are not compromised. Best of luck and please keep us informed.
