Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I saw an add on a local magazine for a $25.00 discount on plumbing services. My shower/tub faucet was leaking and needed a new cartridge. The plumber couldn't fix it and told me I needed a new valve. This salesman pressured me into signing an agreement to become a club member. I hurried to sign the membership form because I was tired of listening to this guy talk about being a former cop and investigator with the prosecutors office. He wouldn't shut up. I had to write a $140.00 check which included the $115.00 membership fee. Then the guy goes on to tell me that it will cost $509.15 to have a new valve installed. I thought this was extremely expensive so I called a friend of mine and asked him if he knew any plumbers. He referred one to me and the guy told me he would install the valve for $100.00 and I would buy the valve. You can get a Moen valve on the internet for $65.00. That would be $165.00 for the job compared to $509.15. Can you believe it? What a ripoff.

I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and told them that I did not want their services that they were to expensive. I get a call from the GM(Matt), who leaves a voicemail telling me that he will refund my membership fee of $115.00. THATS RIGHT! I clearly have documented-recorded info indicating that this GM Matt will refund my money.

I had my wife call Matt. He got very irate with her and even called her a b**** on the phone. Unbelievable that a higher management person would say such a mean and degrading comment.

I was irate after my wife called me and told me what this guy said. He got nasty with me on the phone now changing his mind and saying that he was not going to refund my money and hung up on me. He wanted me to prove that I got a better price. Then why the hell did you call me in the first place and tell me you were refunding the money?

This is clearly a sick and unprofessional way of doing business. I want the public to know about this GM Matt and Benjamin Plumbing.

I dont buy it. Youre an adult. You were not pressured into ANYTHING!!! You had the right to toss this person out on their rump, but you did not. You are attempting to play the victim here and it wont work. There are 3 sides to EVERY story, and YOUR side is not adding up.

Odds are that you signed the agreement WILLINGLY but LATER found that the service wasnt for you AFTER you had signed a contract. You escallated the situation to the DM because the store level wasnt going to just let you out of your contract. In your dealings with the DM you showed what type of person both YOU and your WIFE truly are. Dont you think given that this was a PHONE CALL, that your wife was called a Bi+ch because she was acting like one?? No, your wife MUST be perfect and would NEVER do anything like harrass a DM to get her way, would she. Oh thats right, she DID!! And she did it because YOU encouraged her.

Odds are that you and your wife harrased the Dm to the point that they are washing their hands of you. Odds are that YOU harrassed them to the point that they WILL NOT budge. You signed a contract and now are expected to fulfill your part of it, such as paying dues. You play a OK victim, but your entire story is just that, a STORY. A fictional tale of woe designed solely in order to attempt to garner you some online sympathy. Youre about 7 years too late for that particular ploy to work. It always amazes me how WEAK and USELESS a poster will make themselves out to be to get support yet FAIL to realize how it makes them look when the rest of the story is read. You CLAIM you signed because you were pressured and just wanted the person out of your home.

REALITY is that you probably just signed what was in front of you because YOU were in a hurry and when it was found out that they wouldnt let you out of your contract, that you would try social blackmail and attempt to get the DM in trouble for calling your wife a b****. Its a word, its not murder. If your wife was acting that way then the DM HAS EVERY RIGHT TO CALL HER THAT!! No one gets paid enough to put up with abuse from ANYONE else. I dont care HOW important you THINK you OR your wife are. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO ABUSE ANYONE NO MATTER HOW UNHAPPY YOU ARE!!! BY DOING SO YOU HAVE INVALIDATED ANY COMPLAINT BECAUSE MUCH LIKE ANY BULLY, YOU STARTED IT!! YOU CANNOT START S*** AND THEN HIDE BEHIND THE TEACHER SKIRT!!

I think I will forward this post to the company you have so eliquently bashed, I think that the entire web has a right to know the other side of the story. That way THE TRUTH can be brought out. Perhaps both you AND your wife need to address YOUR behaviour. Obviously she has a mouth on her and runs it to the point that someone felt she was being a b****. Thats a problem. Just because your on the phone doesnt give you the right to act like an a**.

Odds are that not only will YOU NOT recieve a refund, but since you have posted YOUR LIES as FACT, they have a solid case against YOU for slander. Good luck in your up comming lawsuit. Maybe in the future you and your wife might take a more "christian" approach to dealing with people. Do unto others comes IMMEDIATLY to mind.

I read your report with surprise. I had never heard of a 'plumbing membership' and sure enough, this company has one. Make sure you read the contract he had you sign and cancel the way that is required in the contract so you get a refund. If it doesn't specify, make sure you notify the company in writing, return receipt request and regular mail.

It does seem like the repair quote was extremely high. Especially given that you signed up for this membership and there is supposed to be a 15% discount off of repairs and replacements according to their own website. But then again, they specify that the 15% off is only off of their very own price guide, which apparently is much higher than the market value.

Good luck in getting this 'membership' cancelled.
