Bernard Haldane Assoc claimed that they would put me in touch with companies in order to help obtain a new career. They said they would bypass human resource departments and put me in touch with top exectutives. Their brochure listed more than fifty companies that they had contacts with. They also said in another brochure, We will assist you with finding the career position of your choice in your preferred salary range and geographic location.

They also claimed that the Internet was not a good place to look for a new career but that they had a special website. However I was never able to tap in to that information due to "technical difficulties." They advertised an "Eight point Advantage" that would give me contacts and referrals, put me in touch with recruiters and also put my resume online. None of this happened.

I would like a refund of the money that I have spent so far which is $2075.

At the very least, I would like to not pay for the rest of what I owe, and to keep my credit rating clear of any negative remarks.

Haldane and Associates are very vulnerable to bad publicity. Write the manager of the particular Haldane office you were using and politely ask them for your money back, as you are NOT satisifed with the service you are receiving. Write a letter to your state Attorney General at the same time and file a complaint against Haldane. Chances are the AG already has a file going on them. Clearly state in your letter what refund you are seeking. Then once a week write Haldane another letter asking again for your refund. DO NOT THREATEN THEM, but point out that you are working other avenues of legal action and that all copies of your letters and whatever correspondence Haldane sends you is being forwarded to the file with the AG. Always send your letters to Haldane by certified mail, so they have to be signed for. AND YOU HAVE TO KEEP ON THEM!! The weekly letter writing campaign is a good start. Give them about a month, and if you haven't gotten satisfaction from them yet, go to your city clerk's website and find out what laws govern peaceful demonstrations in your city and make a copy of it. Read it carefully, then draft another letter to the manager of the Haldane office. Inform him that since he is not agreeable to your request for a refund, you intend to begin a peaceful picket of his office. Print yourself up a copy of a leaflet outlining your problems with Haldane and enclose it with your letter to the manager. Explain to him/her that you'll be handing this leaflet out to anyone coming into their building(picket laws applying) or their office parking lot (if you have to stay on public accessways such as sidewalks). Explain that you'll do your picketing within the law, and you'll do it starting on such and such a date. You should hear from Haldane fairly quickly after they get that last certified letter. At between $2000.00 to $10,000.00 a client, if you just stop 3 or 4 from going in, it's going to cost them. Remind them of that in your letter, too. BE POLITE, BUT FIRM. Never give up hammering at them, but always make sure YOU stay within the law. Good Luck!!!! Been there, done that!!
