My husband and I had a Best Buy / HRS credit card account in 2001/2002. Our balance was under 500.00. We had two payments mysteriously show up late and were charged a late fee. It baffled us, but we chalked it up to very very slow postal service and a bit of bad luck. After the 2nd time, we were pretty upset, as we do NOT pay our bills late. We received a nasty note from HRS stating that our card had been cancelled and that they regret our current financial difficulties and referred us to a credit counseling agency (no doubt they are getting kickbacks here as well).

We then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and when we mailed our last and final payment before transferring the balance to a different card they charged us a late fee. This was insane because I KNOW it was not late. I mailed this bill an entire 10 days early to see when it would post to our account. I did this on PURPOSE!!!!!!! According to my bill and the "customer service" agent it arrived the day it was due, only after their cutoff time which I beleive was 1PM. We were fed up and transferred the balance to another card (which by the way is always on time and we have NEVER been charged a late fee on).

In December we requested a credit limit increase on our USAA Federal Savings Bank Credit card so that we could make a purchase. We were declined additional credit because we had excessive late payments. We discovered later that USAA uses HRS to determine credit limits and we were declined. This is the ONLY late payments reflected on our credit report.

Please be aware that HRS and Best Buy use fraudulent and deceptive business and credit card practices and DO NOT buy into this SCAM!
