I FEEL DISCRIMINATED AND TREATED LIKE A THIEF

GM Name Daniel Forte [email protected]

Location Danvers MA

My second visit to this location same problem with same member.

I wanted to purchase 9 gift cards. When I went to pay for them GM Daniel Forte came out of his office to attend me. He then told me that I cant purchase 9 gift cards. So he took all 9 to the office to verify if he can sell me 9. I thought it was strange because he's a GM. So then after waiting more than 10 minutes Daniel came out and told me just to wait longer. Then after waiting some more he told me I could only purchase 3.

So Daniel began to process the order I can hear him speaking into the microphone saying to someone else yea the camera is on then he said yes I have it. Then after that he then asked for my ID. And I said why its a pre paid visa gift card there's no address or signature required. He said because he ran it as credit. Then I quickly signed he then cancelled it and asked me to sign again because me signature didn't match what was on my ID. So I had to sign again. Then he spoke some more into the mic at that point I knew the cameras where on me I felt like I was treated like a thief.

This is the second time this crew member GM Daniel Forte has discriminated against me. My first visit he was giving me a hard time with a price match. I will be posting this in the best buy forums and other websites and forwarding to bloggers if best buy Corporate team does nothing in this matter.

FYI I spent only this year on best buy over $7.000 elite plus member And the other best buy locations I visit never give me this hassle I have the proof if needed for the Elite Plus $7,000 and also I have all the pre paid Visa gift cards receipts that I purchased from CVS.

You were treated like a thief because you acted like a thief

First off NO I am not calling you a thief or that you were doing anything illegal...but you were acting that way.

"Prepaid" cards like the ones you pick up at various Drug Stores are a primary instrument for scam artists and thiefs for the exact reason you said..they don't require any verification.

It is a very common thing for people to go out and buy these cards by fraudlent methods, such as using a stolen Debit Card or bogus check.  Then just like when the drug dealers in the past would "launder" money, they would turn these cards that were gotten by fraudlent means into different cards.  The real advanced ones may actually do this a couple of times.

You didn't mention how many or how much you are buying, but if you bought say 9 $100 cards...that is $900 which to stores is a significant amount of money.  You also stated gift cardS as in more than one...that is even a bigger red flag to a store that something may not be quite right.

Now, you ask why the thief doesn't just buy the Best Buy cards with the stolen card.  Well because once the card holder reports the card stolen Best Buy could cancel those cards.  Since the prepaid cards were technically not stolen..they won't be cancelled.

Had you gone in with a real credit card or debit card in your name, or even avoided the "middle man" and just given them the cash.  If you are going to say you do this all of the time, and no one else has given you this trouble.  Perhaps those are ones I would avoid because they don't appear to care about security.

Oh and it doesn't matter if you bought $100 or $100,000 worth of merchandise from Best Buy.  Why?  Because there is no minimum amount that a person spends that automatically turns them from dishonest to honest.

There is one overriding question....why didn't you just pay for the Gift Cards with cash?
