Best Buy Three times not a charm while holding $300 Novi Michigan
Best Buy has never been a favorite store, but I do shop there and have spent a good deal of money over the years. I have had three general problems with them over the years, with the most recent quite bothering.
The first problem is that they weasel out of price matching any chance that they get, even with an add. The second is the help seems to be getting less knowledgeable and has even given direct misinformation. This is a sign that they probably not a great employer and cannot hold on to their employees. The third is the cash back policy. Apparently any item over $250 they will not give you cash back, but instead mail a check. Notice I stated any item. I do not understand this poor policy and I question its legality. Certainly, a reasonable sum of money might not be available at one time, but this is ridiculous. If the policy is to refund by check then it should be done on the spot.
Holding the money in their bank for a minimum of two weeks must make them a killing in aggregate interest (I am sure I am one of thousands who wait 1-2+ weeks for the check and another few days for it to cash).
Next time you shop for electronics look around and don't spend cash there if you change your mind or need it back.
