If the check is "still in the mail" past the due date, then either you did not mail it on time or it got lost in the mail. The most common culprit of such late fees is from people not mailing it in on time, and then trying to use that as an excuse for getting out of late fees. There are other ways to pay your bill besides mailing a check. You can set up online bill pay through your bank and pay Best Buy electronically; this way, you can verify that your payment is received by the due date. You can also pay your bill in any Best Buy store, and even via telephone.

Have posted about this before. There's no way in hell a bill takes 12 or 13 days to get from TX to CA. Two out of three of my last payments took that long to get credited to my best buy(hsbc) account. How long does hsbc sit on them to rack up late fees? In my case, they credited the first late fee back. They stated because I was such a good customer. In the second and last, they actually went back and posted it for the day before to keep it from racking up a late fee. The payment hadn't posted on the due date even after I had mailed it THIRTEEN days before the due date. I think they did it because I had called both hsbc and best buy, corporate offices and raised hell. Oh and by the way, I got my statement yesterday with a credit balance of 72 cents. See, I told you I was gonna do it. What does it cost them now, 5 to 7 bucks to send you a statement? Let's see how long that's gonna last. When I called best buy corporate offices I told them I'd had enough of their bank's games and wanted to cancel my best buy card. I told them I wondered how many customers they were losing because of hsbc's games. Someone from best buy corporate office did call me back and took my information and said they would pass it along.

You have options when it comes to paying you Besy Buy credit card. The previous poster is correct, Best Buy uses House Hold Bank (HSBC) as do most large retail stores. In this case you can pay on-line at BestBuy.com- scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Credit link. You can also pay over the phone by calling 1-800-365-0292. If you use either one of these options, you can also choose to have the payment post the next day, for an additional fee. And of course, there is the option you chose, which is mailing the payment in. So before you complain about someone creating more fees for you, read your bill and check your options.

#1 I am very sorry that you had such trouble but I must tell you that Best Buy Does not own a bank nore do they do their own Financing. Best Buy goes thruogh HSBC bank, the same bank as most department stores (circut city, frys, compusa etc.) So I can understand the frustration of the manager you incountered and you must understand that Best Buy and its affiliates have no control over the post office it is the banks policy that if they recieve a late payment you will be charged a late fee it may not be your fault but it is certanlt not BEst Buys or HSBC's fault so why should they be made to change the rules for you. Im not trying to be rude but realyy its a business and the only way to stay consistant and have a succesfull store or bank is to treat all customers the same and make each one stick to the same rules as everyone else. Oh and one last thing you can make payments online go to www.bestbuy.com and click the creditcard link at the top of the page. you should be able to figure it out from there.
