Bought my 15 yr old a new zoon mp3 player for christmas at Best Buy in Williamsville NY for 150.00 . That mp3 player was his pride and joy. He never left home without. Well last week he left it on all night like he usually does (listens to it in bed), and it appears to have overheated because there is a dark spot on the screen and some condensation inside. So i took it back to the store expecting to get it replaced, but was told that it looks like it was abused and submerged in liquid so they will not cover it. He couldnt tell me how he knew it was submerged in liquid he just assumed. So i asked for the best buy regional phone number whick he rudely gave to me. This is the best part. I called the number and the lady i talked to (she was very polite) looked it up on her computer and i was told that the gentleman at best buy put it in the system and stated that the mp3 player was left in the rain. Wow. I have no idea were he got that info from because i never said that, and it didnt even rain the night it stopped working. Needless to say the lady informed me that there was nothing i could do. Am i the only one that had a problem with this extra warranty that they talked me in to?

Condensation from overheating? No.

First of all, condensation has to come from somewhere, it wouldn't just come from overheating. Humidity might be the cause, or your son sweating on it overnight, or perhaps did you consider that he lied to you and actually did drop it in the toilet or something? I would say they are entirely justified in believing this was not a simple manufacturer's defect. Regardless, I would call the manufacturer and try to get it fixed; they will be more familiar with the product and this might be a known issue. Furthermore, I have never known a Best Buy employee who was rude to someone without cause, it would get them in loads of trouble. If you were genuinely pleasant, I see no reason that they would be rude to you in return, but most customers treat employees like the enemy when they go in for a return. I will refrain from passing judgment, though, maybe you really did meet a rude employee.
