I purchased a "V-cam" video recorder for my nephew on December 3, 2006. It was $90 and change. After a week or so, I noticed that my credit card still had not been charged so I sent an email to them via their "contact us" link. I received response that they were very busy because of Christmas time but that my order would be processed when they shipped it in a couple of days.
On December 13, my card was charged but no notification from Best Toys of the Year. I contacted them a for status of delivery but only got a notification that i was charged. I contacted them several times but receive the standard:
"Thank you for your email. We apologize that we are experiencing severe delays in response time due to the holidays. Please do not respond to this email. A representative will contact you as soon as possible."
But one contacted me. When I had not received the item by December 23, I again contacted them and told them to cancel the order (this was to be a Christmas gift you see). They sent a "refund notice" on 12/26/2006 for the full amount of $90.86.
However, this refund was not posted to my Credit card. I contacted my Credit card company and they said that it can sometimes take up to 30 days to refund so I waited a month. Still no refund. This is not a reputable company. Stick to an internet company with a proven track record like Amazon. Despite their rebuttal which explains how they became overloaded with business and had server and url problems, I still do not have a refund. Those are not consumer problems and shouldn't be transferred to their customers. Worst online experience- ever.
