I moved from Florida to Norristown, Pennsylvania last year. Just like others I needed to find some appliances and furniture and located BestBuy in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.

A 27" Magnavox television was purchased last year with the usual warranty. While purchasing the television, a BestBuy employee recommended I purchase an extended warranty. Now is where the fun begins!

I asked the advantages to the extended warranty. The BestBuy employee stated that no matter what happens to the television, it will always be covered. I asked one question, "If the television was damaged what would occur?" He stated that I would receive a replacement television.

In late February the television stopped working for me. On March 8th, a television repairman visited my location to look at the television. He stated that because of the damage, it could not be fixed. He also stated that the warranty will not cover the damage. I then stated, since it won't be fixed it seems the only option is to throw it away. The repairman agreed with my comment.

Guess what! I am going to throw away a television that doesn't work and the promise from BestBuy was nothing but a flat lie. The warranty and the comments made from BestBuy are useless and I will have to throw away a $275 television that lasted less than one year.

This case reminds me of the two brainiacs I saw trying to load a huge wide screen TV into a shortbed Chevy. They got it about halfway up when one of them let go. All you could hear was a big CRACK. The apparent owner of the TV stormed into the store demanding they give him another TV for FREE. He caused his own problems by not wanting to pay for the $20 delivery fee. Good choice Jethro. Penny wise, and pound foolish. Or, the guy at the part store who kept pulling the halogen bulb out of the box and fingerfracked it. The grease from your skin will cause a hotspot on the bulb and it will blow instantly. After 3 such occurences, the store decided to stop giving him another bulb. I'd have stopped after the first one. Do you really need an answer to the cause of damage? HAHAHAHA!

Your warranty can be voided if the damage was something that you caused to occur.
