The Service Was Good, but the Treatment At The Door Was NOT!     My close friend Mike Winberg used to go to this synagogue and be a member with his family many years ago and had suggested that I attend there.   Well, I made the decision to go there for the Shabbat Services back on Saturday, July 28, 2018 and arrived there at approximately 10:00 A.M. because I had assumed that they would have started at that hour.   In Any Case:  When I arrived at the door, the two (2) young boys who were working at the front door had asked me a Very Offensive Question which is "What Are You Doing Here"?   It is like "Who The Hell Are They To Be Asking Me Such A Stupid and Personal Question" when they knew that I was there for the Shabbat Services?   I told them that this was a Very Inappropriate Question to ask ME since they were Not The Immigration People and I am Not at the Airport!   I am at a Synagogue!

It sure did Not Feel Like It!   I was Very Upset about that because the Other Synagogues in Toronto such as "Holy Blossom" did Not Harass ME, nor ask such a Stupid and Very Inappropriate Question.   After that they had asked ME to Show Them My Bags which was Not A Problem, but Why Would They Go Threw My Bags, but Not Search Anybody Else's?   I felt this to be Very Biased and Prejudiced to say the Very Least!   I personally did Not Enjoy The Very Poor Treatment Received At The Front Door and This Is Far From How You Treat Your Jewish Community if this is What Being Jewish Is All About!   I am Not Even Sure if the Two (2) Boys In Question were In Fact:  Jewish?   I may or may Not be coming back again based on This Disgusting, Unhealthy, Toxic Experience!   Thank you.   Sincerely yours,           Howard Paul Shore Angry, Upset And Pissed Off Beth Tzedec Congregation Attendee   /HPS

Your Comments Are Without Merit - Not An Opinion

#2Consumer Comment

Mon, July 30, 2018

Your complaints are completely ridiculous and #7 represents someone who has never been to a venue.  That is a comment from a resident of the area worried about their home's value, not an attendee who wouldn't care about the residents living in around a venue.  The remaining comments had me laughing though - thanks.

1.  No your rights are not violated.  When you attend a venue, you agree to abide by the T&C's of the venue.  Read your ticket.  But then, since you're a resident and not an attendee of the venue, you would not know that.

3.  See comment #14 - you're repeating yourself.

4.  It is perfectly legal in NY for Ticketmaster/Live Nation to charge you a fee for buying tickets through them.  This fee is for using their service; it is legal in all 50 states, including CA which has the toughest laws on the books for this.

5.  People standing at a concert (gasp)?  Yes it's allowed and Live Nation has nothing to do with your choosing of a seat.  You do.  Once you select the seat, you assume all risks.  Perhaps you should actually attend a concert before complaining.

8.  Yes, the venue is allowed to look into your bag to determine if you have anything in your bag like, food and water.  Or explosives.  Or guns and knives.  I walked into a sporting arena once and the lady in front of me in line forgot to remove her gun from her purse.  Yeah, it happens.  This practice has been pretty standard for the last...10+ years...

10.  Buy a Ford.  Problem solved.  No it's not discriminatory.  It's marketing.

12.  Sounds like the fee from Live Nation might now be worth it.

13.  They have the legal right not to accept certain forms of tender.  It's not discriminatory.  BTW, read all the complaints about them on this website.  Prepaid cards are for deadbeats who can't get a regular bank account.  Perhaps getting a regular bank account with either a debit card attached, or a real credit card would solve that problem.

14.  People in the box office are there to sell you tickets.  They aren't there to offer consulting services.  Why?  Because often times, they know less than you do.  I always buy tickets through a service.

If you're honestly worried about whether your comments will be taken seriously, don't worry.  They're not serious complaints and they should be negated to the greatest extent possible.  If you attend concerts or sporting events, as I do, many of the items you're complaining about aren't an inconvenience to 100% of the attendees.  You select the seat, you buy the ticket, you pay the fees, and you enjoy the event at the venue.  The fees are immaterial and you're silly (not an opinion) to make a big deal of them.
