So long story short, I own a very small business and after relentless calls from the BBB succumbed to becoming a member. It was fine until I had a complaint filed against me from a guy who seemed to think I was at fault for a key I had made for his wife in an emergency. She was stuck at a ski resort 100 miles from town and I was the only option. After making the key she drove home. The next day the ignition did not work. I was genuinely worried. I offered to drive to them and resolve the situation but was met with hesitation. I returned their money...They chose to take it to the dealership and were told all locks on the car needed to be replaced which is not true as I do the lock work for my local dealership carrying this model of car. After being strong armed into paying this guy more money after I returned his money I was given an F rating, revoked and the BBB claims this is unresolved.

What was stated in #1 Consumer Comment by Southern Chemical and Equipment LLC, in regards to exposing the BBB, is absolutely correct.
Feel free to stay at this site and type in- MOB SONG 24, and scroll down to 'Consumer Comment #3' at Ripoff Report #269041, entitled "Blame it on a Lawyer" and read the following quote that starts paragraph #4:

Make sure to 'Google' this- BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU 20/20 INVESTIGATION, and watch that video on the web in order to learn the truth about the BBB.
Much of our 'system' in America is based on a foundation of lies, deception, fraud, manipulation, greed, trickery, deep corruption, and the constant pursuit to financially injure the innocent people living here and all over the world. That is why there are so many problems in America.

Just filed a complaint with the Attorney General before I see a private attorney today. My reprisals are even more relentless than my locksmith skills are amazing.

The BBB is totally useless, and serves no purpose today in our internet age.
The good news is that most of the younger generation doesn't even know what it is!
The BBB is obsolete, and will soon be extinct.
(Good riddence).
Now, for your specific situation.
Get yourself a lawyer and file a defamation lawsuit on that BBB chapter you are dealing with.
You obviously went above and beyond in serving your customer, so clearly you would not deserve an F rating, right?
SUE THEM NOW!!!
And, you can post your story, along with the full name and contact info of the BBB staff you dealt with, and the full name and contact info of the customer who scammed / strongarmed you.
Expose them all to the world, and as long as whatever you post is factual, they can do nothing.
