I received a letter saying that i won part in a lottery winning, the letter also contained a cashier's check for 3,900. My winning was 39,000 and the check was for to pay the taxes so i can get my winnings faster. The letter instructed me to call Jane and she will give me instructions on what to do. Well i did that, Jane told me to deposit the check and call her afterward, i did that Jane told me to call back the following afternoon to confirm deposit and to approve the check when my Bank calls to confirm the amount. By the next morning the check was in my checking account by the afternoon the amount was withdrawn from my account. When i called Jane to tell her what happened she stated that " she didn't felt that i was serious about my winnings so she declined the check", from there she slammed down the phone hung up on me. I called her back Jane told me she will talk to her supervisor and call me back in ten minutes, haven't heard from her since. What took place gave her access to my account information.

Laurie is absolutely right. You were very foolish to put that check in your bank account. NO ONE sends unsolicited checks in the mail. NO ONE !!!!! Geeezzzzzzzz. And, yes, there is a very real possibility of your being arrested. A poster wrote a couple of days ago that his bank told him that he would be arrested if that money was not paid back the next day. WISE UP !!!!!

the scam is to get your money BEFORE you find out the check is bogus. THE CHECK ITSELF WAS THE HUGE RED FLAG IT WAS A SCAM. You could have asked your bank to verify without depositing and they would have told you that it was bogus. NO LEGITIMATE LOTTERY OR SWEEPSTAKES SENDS YOU CHECKS TO PAY TAXES WITH! Those are removed from legitimate winnings BEFORE you receive them NOTIFY THE BANK ASAP! CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT By the way - YOU CAN BE ARRESTED FOR PASSING THESE BAD CHECKS! Consider yourself lucky if that does not happen.
