I was shocked to find another report that read exactly like the recent experience that I had with Bill Heard Vista Chevrolet. I don't know if any of the local Las Vegans out there realize this or not, but Bill Heard Chevrolet bought out Vista Chevrolet back in I believe either July or August.

My report reads much like the other one. I went into the dealership on November 5th and advised them that I had bad credit, no money down, no co-signer and negative equity on my trade-in. I drove home with a brand new 2004 Chevy Cavalier. We did some negotiations on the payments, etc, but agreed on $399 a month for 72 months with $1000 to be put down in increments of $250 a week for the next 4 weeks. I met with the finance manager, signed my paperwork and he even stated that in a year I could refinance through the bank for a lower interest rate. Do to some credit problems, I agreed to pay 20% interest, but was more than happy to find that the interest rates could be cut in half in a year, provided I was current and on time with my payments.

The salesperson, Heddy Dosigne, had me cancel my car insurance on my 1999 Kia Sephia and have a binder faxed to her office the next morning. At this time, they took pictures of myself, my fiancee, and my son in front of the car and I met with the Customer Sales Representative (they called her the CSI -- I should have taken that one as a sign, especially here in Vegas!) where they presented me with the warranty information and even told me that if I gave them all excellent ratings on the form they would give me a free tank of gas. At this point, I felt that they were really trying to help me out and I stated that I had no problems with the dealership or my deal and felt that I had been treated more than fairly.

On Saturday, I showed up with the required 8 personal references and copies of my phone, water, and power bills.

On Monday she called and asked if I could have my fiancee sign on the loan. I stated that this would not be a problem and went in on Tuesday when she had my fiancee fill out some paperwork to be added to the loan, so that we would show as having a higher income, etc. I took him up to the dealer and he filled out the paperwork without any problems. When she saw that he really didn't have anything in the way of credit, she asked me, once again, if I had a cosigner. She did state, at that time, that there may be a problem with the financing and that she would call me the next day and let me know. At this time, I asked her why they gave me a car and had me cancel my insurance on the old car if the financing hadn't gone through yet? She stated that this was standard practice.

I, finally, heard from Ms. Dosigne yesterday morning and she stated that I qualified for a loan, but not in the amount of the car and that I needed to bring the car back. I told her that I had to be to work in about an hour and really couldn't come back in until Wednesday.

Tomorrow morning, I take the car back, and I don't really know what to expect, beyond a possible request for an outrageous downpayment or them trying to put me in another used car, which I specifically stated that I was not interested in. I will post an update after my meeting tomorrow.

I saw a very similar post to my own on this site, and if that person reads this, please contact me. From your post, I understand that you have an attorney and all. Since this is a very similar situation, perhaps we may consider some kind of class action suit or something. I'm sure that we aren't the only ones here in Vegas that this has happened to.

I really wonder if these people understand the humiliation of having to take your car back after having shown it to friends and family, broken it in, and just generally grown comfortable with it.

Sincerely,

another ripped off customer from Bill Heard

Sorry about the run around you had at Bill Heard, but if you really think about the situation you were almost in (399 mo for 72 months with $1000 dn...that's almost $30,000 for a Cavalier?)...the bank did you a favor by not approving the loan.20 percent interest is ridiculous...I realize bad credit causes this...but why not save a little and buy a used car for cash, drive it awhile and save up a big down payment and get a decent interest rate...with enough money down...it can be done. Had that deal been approved you would be on here in a couple of years complaining how you owe way too much of a crappy little Cavalier. Think before you get yourself into a trap you can't get out of...

This is a GREAT site!! I've read it for years, but never commented or wrote until now. My comment isn't just for this post, but for MANY other just like it(By the way this is one of the better posted messages I've read).......Buying almost any car is always a losing proposition, nothing depreciates faster! Big down payments, high interest, payments for years etc....Plus add upside down trade-ins,bad credit and iffy employment, and in the end that beautiful car is worth about squat and the cycle starts again. I don't understand why people shoot both their feet off and then complain when things come apart.Get some financial common sense and stay away from car dealers(they all suck).People see all these car ads day after day,but I wish they showed the people struggling to get or keep them!

I got back from the dealership about 15 minutes ago. Needless to say, I ended up driving home in my old Kia. When I got there, they, of course, wanted a bigger down payment. I told them that I didn't have a bigger down payment ($2,000 instead of the $1,000) and that I told them that before I ever even made an appointment to go look at the car. I also advised them that they had 47 reports against their chain of dealerships and that there were people in this state who were filing charges with the attorney general against their chain of dealerships. Sad to say, but they really didn't seem to care. I also advised them of their deceptive practices and that I was going to file a complaint with General Motors. Again, they really didn't seem to care and told me to go ahead and file a complaint. They told me that it wasn't them, it was the bank. I asked them why, if they thought there may be a problem, they ever gave me the car to begin with and they said that they did this because oftentimes if the bank knows that you're in possession of the vehicle, they will approve the loan. Personally, this doesn't make any sense at all to me. I really doubt that the bank cares whether you're in possession of the car or not. I brought up the fact that the dealerships in Maryland, where I'm originally from, do not generally give you a car if you're not approved for the loan and the sales manager stated that that was because Maryland was a "no delivery" state and that wasn't the case in Nevada. When I mentioned that I had talked to another car dealer in town, who also had a policy of no delivery unless you're approved, he had no response. After having read several of the posts on this site about this car dealer, I felt that I was lucky to get my trade and my checks for the down payment back. I do, however, still feel very frustrated, humiliated, and lied to. I am very greatful for this site and did a search on another dealership that I am trying to buy a car through. No reports on them, so I'm hoping I get a little luckier this time. This site has been added to my favorites list. Many thank yous!
