I use ebay to do most of my shopping for Birthday's and Christmas.  Recently they added a service where I could defer my payments through paypal to bill me later.  I use my internet bank to make automatic payments and have set these up to be paid the same time each month.  Recently I have noticed they have changed the due date to 1 day past the day they receive the payment and then charged me a $35.00 late fee.  They have done this for several months raking in the cash and since I've had it set up automatically I haven't checked.  I fear this is a scam that Ebay, paypal and bill me later have set up to steal from their customers.  They hope they can bilk $1000's from their customers before they realize what has happened and then it is too late.  Beware of them and check your statement every month.  Customer no service from them is completely unhelpful and accusatory.  I believe they are aware of it and are part of their overall corporate conspiracy.

Isn't it amazing how all of these "evil" banks and corporations always seem to be able to pick on the people who never check their statements.   It's almost like they have a hidden camera watching these people every day.

Beware of them and check your statement every month.

- That is probably the best thing you said.

Here is some things to think about, and help you out in the future.

If you are using your On-Line banking, be aware that it may be 1-7 days before the company gets the payment.  This is based on various factors such as if they have to send a payment by mail or do an ACH transaction.  So you need to account for this.  If you are telling your bank to pay the bill on the due date..you can be pretty sure it will be late.  To be safe you should never be trying to time the payment to get there ON the due date, but several days before.  Not only because it will keep you from being late, but if on the chance something does go wrong you can correct it before the due date.
