Where do I begin?

The bad faith, bad attitude, bad ethical practices are too long to describe in detail. But for the purpose of brevity, I will simply state that I myself was an Insurance Executive and I know, for certain, that the practices of this broker are horrifying.

The lies, bad advice, and lack of accountability have brought me to post this complaint onto the internet in order to forewarn all homeowners to be cautious.

1.) We had a legitimate claim against a bad builder who caused many thousands of dollars in dangerous damages to our home. We were in the process of reaching a long-awaited settlement with the bad builders' insurance carrier directly, but I made the mistake of contacting BK International for advice. BK International was our own broker whom we used for our Homeowners' insurance coverage. They advised us to forget the direct settlement hassles and make a claim directly through Chubb [who was our carrier].

We were told that Chubb would take care of everything since we were a high end insured and that Chubb would simply subrogate against the builders' carrier..... well, that was not exactly the truth.

2.) This bad advice caused Chubb to posture the position of being alarmed by such a large property damage claim [which they low-balled and started to play games of their own because they did not want to pay us-- but this is another complaint against this overrated insurance carrier altogether.]

3.) Chubb then decides to drop us after more than 8 years as our homeowners insurance carrier. The reason was for this large claim, which would never have been made were it not for the bad advice of BK International. I had to contact Chubb directly to inquire about their decision, as BK International sat on their hands and did nothing to investigate such an irrational underwriting decision by some guy sitting in a cubicle.

4.) Chubb tried to bring in another small claim from 5 years earlier [that they never paid on nor were the homeowners asking for them to pay on due to similar circumstances with a third-party roofer being responsible for the claim] as part of their decision. They also tried to bring in another roofing claim that had already been settled directly with another roofer in the matter and Chubb was not to involve themselves at all in the matter. This is totally illegal, as no insurance company is allowed to reach 5 years into the past. I will be notifying the Insurance Department of this bad faith conduct.

5.) What makes this so heinous is that BK International did nothing to contact the homeowners in a timely manner. They sat on the information and buried it to not burden themselves with it until the homeowner was finally notified via mail several weeks later by Chubb's letter.

BK International ignored their job and duty to the homeowner. The rep smugly laughed out loud on the phone when confronted about their behavior, and lied about what she did to help the matter [such as having 'made some calls to chubb'-- which was not true].

The arrogance was thick. The lack of caring or taking of responsibility was wrongful.

6.) The fact that BK has representatives giving bad advice to clients and then taking no responsibility for the repercussions of such bad advice is egregious.

It was clear that the bad faith representative had committed an "Error and Omission" in her bad advice due to the fact that she has no claims or underwriting knowledge to be giving out such advice.

7.) We will never entrust our insurance needs to this broker ever again.
