Blitt And Baines, PC Served Papers, Canceled Court Date, Then made 2nd Court Date without Telling Me, Therefore, Winning by Default Wheeling Illinois
Atlantic Credit & Fin. Inc is trying to collect money from me. I have no job right now. They hired Blitt and Gaines, PC to collect. They served me with papers. I called up and agreed to pay money in installments, then realized they could be ripping me off, so I stopped payment on the check. They set up new court date, and did not let me know about it, therefore winning by default. When questioned, their amount of money owed was different than orginally agreed upon. They wanted the money up front, since they had the judges default, and said my bank account would be froze, plus anything else they can do to get their money. I would pay, but I felt their practices are out of line, unethical, etc. but I would like some legal advice on this matter. I see their name is all over the web for ripping people off, so I am very glad to not have paid them. Any advice would be welcomed. Especially how I can prove I was not informed about the 2nd court date. I do not even know the credit card they are collecting from, so that's my next step to find out. Thanks to anyone who can give me advice.
