Blockbuster Video made false accusations of theft of their previously viewed videos and expected me to pay for them. Bel Air Maryland
I had been dealing with this video store for about 1 year and was a fairlly regular customer until I went to rent a video and the cashier accused me of not returning 2 videos some time ago. The woman at the counter stated that the case on 2 videos were returned without the dvds in them. The charge would have been $40.00 for these dvds, which I advised them is unreasonable. I explained that it would not make sense to take dvds that I had already viewed and then lie about it.
This explanation did not convince the employee and she stated that I could speak with the manager if I wished, but that he was only in the store during the day. Unfortunately, I work during the day and did not feel that it was my obligation to take time off from my job to straighten out an error that the store had created. I refused to pay the inflated price for something that I had returned to the store and did not have. The employee stated that I would not be able to rent any more videos until I paid this bill. Needless to say, I have not been back to the store since then. Too bad that they don't warn their customers that a condition of the membership there is that they have to pay for the dvds that the employees either lose or walk off with.
