I am sick of the constant unsolicited recorded telephone calls coming at all hours of the day or night (from 7 am to midnight) from Boyajian Law Offices. These calls are pre-recorded and always say the same thing: "This call is regarding a personal business matter" ... "please call Boyajian Law Offices at 1-800-793-2350." The recording also gives a reference number - probably so whoever answers the phone when I call can access all my personal information and details of my "case".

I have received countless of these recorded calls over the last few months, sometimes more than one in a single day -- never mind that my number has always been unlisted and has been registered on the Federal Do-Not-Call List since its inception over two years ago.

I have never responded, nor will I ever respond, because I know this is just some kind of scam.

Instead, I reported this blatent violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (and Do-Not-Call List) to the Federal Communications Commission complaints division, but all I got was a letter thanking me for my report. A month later, I am still receiving the same unsolicited calls from Boyajian Law Offices; clearly the FCC has done jack s**t about my complaint or this rip-off law office, and probably isn't going to any time soon, if ever.

Has anyone else out there been receiving these harassing phone calls from Boyajian Law Offices? If so, have you had any success in stopping them?

After relocating our business to a larger facility, we received new phone numbers from the local provider. Unfortunately, we have received numerous phone calls on several occasions since our move from an unlisted 800 number that we traced back to Boyajian Law Offices. After calling them to discuss their issues (our company has never had a credit issue in its history) we found that they were looking to collect on third parties that might have had our number in the past but no longer do. After doing some research, I learned that these parties had not had the number for several years. This past week we received three calls from Boyajian Law Offices. I called them back each time to inform them that the parties they are in search of are not available through this number. I also asked them to remove our number from their database. I have now asked Boyajian to remove our number from their database several times since our move. Somehow I doubt that they will perform this simple task.

We have recently started receiving these calls on a unlisted cell-phone, not the listed main line. Needless to say, I and my wife, lead a completely debt-free life. There are no outstanding debts and never have been. The fact that when we called back, to try and figure out who they were, the only thing we could find was a recording. In the State of Washington, this is illegal. ------------------------ http://www.atg.wa.gov/consumer/credit.shtml#Collection The WA Attorney General says : The first time a collection agency contacts you, it must give its name and address, and the name of the original creditor (the business or person you owe money to). It must also tell you in writing the amount of the debt and any fees which have been added, such as interest or collection fees. You must also be informed of your right to dispute the information. * A collection agency cannot call or write to you more than three times a week. Only one of those calls can be at work. You cannot be called between 9 pm and 8 am. * A collection agency cannot harass, intimidate, threaten, or embarrass you. It cannot threaten violence, criminal prosecution, or use offensive language. * If you send a written statement requesting a collection agency to stop, it cannot continue to call or write to you to demand payment. The initial contact fails to state the name (at least clearly), does not give the address of the business, and the purpose is masked. The second recording just states it is a collections issue and elicits no further information. -------------------------- A quick check of my cell phone records shows that they have also called our number Dec 12(monday), 13, 14, 16, 17. This makes five contacts in the week, another violation of the State Law. Whomever these people are, they are compete shysters operating outside the law. I have only started to investigate them; this is what brought me to this lovely site, btw ;)

They are a debt collector

Of the worse kind. They are trying to collect an outstanding debt from you, regardless if it's yours or not, and it's probably from 15 years ago. They can call, it's legal, until you send them a ceast and desist letter.

Do Not Call Registry

Only applies to telemarketers. While these people are every bit as scummy, they are not trying to sell you anything (other than a line of BS), and so are not covered by this regulation. I believe what you need to do is send them a registered cease and desist letter.

Kate, They are Debt Collectors, NOT telemarketers!

The fact that you have an unlisted number and that you are on the do not call registry are irrelevant. The "Do Not Call" registry ONLY applies to Telemarketers. These people are debt collectors, and scavenger debt buyers. They are among the top 10 worst in the nation. They are lowlife. Do not ignore them, as they wait for that. They will get a default judgement against you and garnish wages and sieze property if you let them. Go to the site I mentioned and learn about your rights under the FDCPA, and a sample cease communication letter you need to send to stop the calls.
