The HOOK $99 BRAKE SPECIAL

The truth: It will never happen!!

We got taken on both our cars. 1995 Lexus for $700 and a 2002 Ford Taurus for $375 ( with 50,000 miles) so much for a Brake Special....

So the reason I am writing this is to WARN you all.....

After spending $375 on my Ford 11 MONTHS AGO, I decided to bring it in today for an inspection. I was greeted by a very dead lobby and Garage (now I know why) So behind their counter as always is manager Matt He got me right in on the lift and wheels pulled off in 5 minutes!! Then he came out out from the garage and asked me to come take a look at what he found. He showed me broken hardware in the rear which the springs snapped loose and caused damage to the drum. (not covered under warranty, and the last shop to work on my car) He also told me I needed new rotors on all 4 wheels a hardware kit and real wheel cylynders. Total cost $660, But he did say he would throw in the pads since they are covered under warranty. So now I am spending $1035 for BRAKES on a 74,000 mile car. HUH?

I then told Matt I could not afford that. He said he would do the pads and the rears for only $216. I asked him if he could do it for $200 he immediatly said NO! that's below his costs. So then I called my regular Mechanic I asked him how much based on what they are telling me it would be to do this. He told me a lot cheaper. So I then told Matt that I am going to see my mechanic because of cost. Matt then told me that's impossible! I said put it back together "I'm OUTTA HERE".

THE RESULTS>>> My mechanic discovered I DID NOT NEED all 4 rotors I only needed one. I DID NOT NEED the wheel cylynders. He also discovered the Hardware that broke off inside the rear drum was OVER ADJUSTED which caused it to get weak and break! (which is typical of a shop like this). At the end of the day my total bill for all 4 wheels was $325 including pads and labor.

The next time you need brakes check this website before you decide to take your car into a place like this. With over 400 complaints nationwide you can understand the frustration. My advice is to check YELP.com or the BBB which I notice is no longer on their website, GO FIGURE. Thanks RIPOFFREPORT.com for letting consumers voices be heard and not ripped off!
