Brian J. Dougherty Lawn and Order RVA1 Cut by Design Took my money and did not complete the work Midlothian Virginia
Brian has done work for me over several years: gutter cleaning, leaf removal, fixing siding, etc. I asked if he knew someone who could repair my wood privacy fence and he said he could do it. He was to put in 3-4 new posts and reattach a section that had blown down.
Since he was doing the work on a Sunday and I have a weekend job, I paid him upfront $160.00. He only put in 3 posts about a foot in the ground, with very little concrete, did not level them, and left. He came back in a day or so and told me the ground was too wet and the concrete was not setting.
I said he didn't use enough and that the posts were not in the ground far enough. He told me they were 10 foot posts! No they're only 8 foot. He said he'd be back Friday. He only came back when I called him and he told me the same story about the concrete not being set. He said he'd be back Sunday (2 weeks after the first Sunday) to finish the work. He never showed up.
I texted him and told him to refund my money and I would get someone else. He told me he would come get "his" posts and give me my money back. I've not seen or heard from him since. He won't respond to messages or calls. I've posted on his Facebook page (Lawn and Order RVA1) just to have him delete them.
Seems he has quite a following on this Ripoff Report site. I guess that's why he changed his name from Cut by Design to Lawn and Order and always seems to have a new phone number.
I'm a senior citizen with limited income and it sucks that someone I've known for a long time has ripped me off the way he has. But I've got news for him: I'm not giving up until I get my money back! Just BEWARE and do NOT pay him upfront!
