I contacted the Broward Chamber of Commerce 3 months ago about possibly particpating in a "table top" event they were going to have. I gave them a credit card # but decided to pass on the event.

The contact at the Chamber, Gino Alessio, called me 3 weeks ago and told me he was going to charge my card for $330.00. I told him I did not want to join. I went over to their office and wanted to see a contract.. or anything else that would prove my agreement to join. Gino refused to show me a contact.... or to give me the name of the Chamber owner or President. I could not believe this is how a Chamber of Commerce, especially one as large as this county would conduct business. I called every day or at least every other.... each time a contract was supposed to be faxed. I never got it.

I found the owner through a state website. I found his phone number and spoke with his wife. She told me she would look into the situation and that she would fax over a signed contract. That never happened.

The fact is, there is no contract. This Chamber of Commerice is run so poorly that it is signing up members without getting authorization. There is no structure in the office and though Gino told me he was in charge, I found out he is only a sales rep. I will not give up until I get a full refund. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ORGANIZATION.

Ed called in and faxed the credit card information with authorization for $295 +$35 admin fee for membership. There were no tables available for $330, the table Ed referred to was $195.

After faxing in the credit card information, Ed called and asked if he could send a check instead of using a credit card. This request was acceptable. After four months of waiting for a promised check, I called him and let him know that corporate was going to charge the credit card if a check wasn't recieved within 7 days. It wasn't my decision and out of my hands. Ed recieved four months of member benefits and I simply relayed the information from my superiors.
