I contacted David Moore who had a Website advertising Westies from Ireland, raised in home setting. I was so impressed, I lived in Europe and know how Europeans breed fine offspring. I contacted David as I was interested in getting a female to breed with my gorgeous stud. David boasted champion bloodlines coming from Ireland. I was so excited to add such a fine dog to my breeding program.

The pictures I saw of the puppy was this very gorgeous puppy with a thick coat and the robust look of a Westie. He charged me $1000 which I didn't question as you usually pay for breeding rights. I supposedly was getting a female who was 8 weeks old. When I got to the airport, was I ever in shock. This dog was raising such a fit, at first I thought is was her reaction to the plane trip. This dog in no way was 8 weeks old. She didn't even have her first shots stating on the paperwork that she was too young for her first shots.

She was a tiny 3 lb. Westie who had a very thin coat and looked nothing like the Westie picture I received. When I got her into the car, I took her out of her crate in hopes of settling her down by comforting her but she wanted no parts of cuddling, etc. That was a good sign she had never been socialize. She had diarrhea which I was able to get under control by treatment my Vet advised.

I took her to puppy training class and she displayed such an ugly disposition, she would growl when being trained to do commands. Eventually we got her under control but I never owned a Westie with a fowl disposition. We were fortunate to get her IKC papers but I had to hassle to get them. When I got her paperwork, there was not one champion in her lineage. At 1 1/2 years she had a litter of puppies. Her fowl temperament came out again. She ended up killing two healthy puppies just by losing her temper at them. With remaining four, she had to be watched the entire time we had them, the least little thing would set her off and then when she would hurt them, she would become upset. We were advised to not breed her again.

Never again, will I buy a dog w/o checking out where the dog has come from and meeting the parents. I have since bought two more Westies from breeders who raise their puppies in their homes and what a difference. The have a love for the breed and they are totally honest and you are able to meet the parents and get full, truthful answers about the parents and the puppy. The puppies were very well socialized and are full of love.
