Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In the August of 2005, at the airport I rented a car from Budget because they quoted me a cheaper price than Avis ($180 for the week with Budget compared to something like $240 with Avis).

Well, the woman tells me she knows I am in a hurry so we will get everything signed so I can be on my way. She puts this contract in front of me and points (with long, nicotine-stained fingernails) at all the places I need to "just initial." Stupid me, I assumed I was initialing for the usual formalities, and she was flying through it so fast! The bottom of the contract reads $180 and some change. She authorizes my debit card and I'm on my way.

I bring the car to turn back in and the guy at the return lot hands me this electronic sales slip to sign...for nearly $500! I'm so upset I can hardly see straight. Why I signed the sales slip is still a mystery to me (okay, well I guess I'm a major idiot, that's why) but this does not make it right to rip a person off this way.

Of course, my papers are in a mess and I never did find a copy of my contract, but supposedly I agreed to every kind of extra insurance they offered, including $20+ a day passenger insurance when I never carried or even thought I might carry a passenger in the car!

Wasn't it cute that this hag so skillfully pulled the wool over someone's eyes? Hag, I hope you're reading this, and I hope the next person you mislead and lie to is a lot smarter than I am and ends up making a fool out of YOU!!!

Of course, I went down to the bank and they send Budget scumburgers a certified letter disputing the charges but that was the last I heard about it. Had I charged it to a regular credit card it would have been easier to dispute but with a debit card once the money was gone it was gone.

Fool me once, shame on you. You will never get a chance to fool me twice. And if you think you just lost one customer, think again. I won't forget this, and I will make sure to bring this up to everyone I talk to every opportunity I can.

I also was charge for unwanted insurance and have file a report against Budget. It seems to me that we just cannot trust any service agent these days as they come back with, you signed the contract, even though most of the contracts are in code or abbreviated with acronyms, that must consumers would not understand. My way to avoid this in the future would be to read every word of the contract at the counter, even if it took an hour and ask the agent to explain every thing I don't understand. The agent also fast talked me. Next time I will tell him to slow down and explain every detail. So much for fast service. But I will never use Budget again.
