On April, 1st ,2017. My husband and i picked up a uhaul from burlington auto outlet to move. We gave them a hundred dollar deposit to take the amount we owed from once we were done and we were supposed to get the rest back on return of the uhaul. We called sat afternoon after realizing we weren't going to make it before they closed to see if we could have the charges taken off our debit card. When i called a man i know now was rich meyer answered the phone and proceeded to tell me (in a condecinding way) i was assuming they were closed on Sunday that they were not and they would be open at 9am so we could get our money then. We ended up staying to return the uhaul at 9 like he said and there was noone there it was closed. We were lied to so i waited till Monday to call and find out how to get my money back and of course they said they can't send a check and we have to pick it up there knowing we are 7 hours away! We spoke to him again finding out he is the actual manager and he from the start had a bad insulting attitude like I'm dumb and its my own fault. I called the uhaul corporate office and they said he already marked the contract as paid out. Which means he said he already returned the money that we were owed back to us in cash on Saturday.

Also we were living in Burlington Iowa while my husband was working at the weaver plant. We were moving our stuff into a storage unit to go to another job in Kentucky. I'm sorry, i know I'm a little all over the place. I normally wont write reviews or complain like this about anyone. I just felt like after uhaul told us they have done this to others or something like it, then, people should know. I did entend to have the uhaul back in time and called when we realized we wouldn't. We just wanted to get back the cash we gave them and let them take what we owed of our bank card at the end. As far as the deposit went i thought that was what we had to give them the card number for when reserving it online?!?! They already had our bank card info from me reserving the uhaul online. I don't know why they didn't use it to begin with. Its ridiculous abd frustrating.

We rented the uhaul to move some things into a storage unit which we would have been done with before they closed on Saturday.

We rented the uhaul to move some things into a storage unit which we would have been done with before they closed on Saturday. When we realized they wouldn't we called to see if they would change payment and that wasn't the problem it was the manager lied and said we could just return it on Sunday morning and they weren't open and he knew that! When we rebted the uhaul we intended to return it on time but we didn't know we would be giving them a deposit that was more than we owed them in cash either. I reserved it online two weeks in advance. I only have a problem with the fact the manager knew we were leaving the state and we could have changed payment to our bank card and he intentionally lied knowing we couldnt get our cash back unless it was from that specific store. Call uhaul corporate office as we did yesterday and we aren't the first people thats had a problem from that location. Its ridiculous when u can't trust merchants now days!

Why would you expect them to return your deposit prior to your returning the rental vehicle? That would defeat the purpose of the deposit because they would need to inspect the vehicle for damage prior to issuing the refund.

Their Saturday hours are advertised as 8 am-5 pm. If you live 7 hours away then how did you expect to move and return the vehicle within the 9-hour period that they are open? Was it your intent to move in just 2 hours? (That’s assuming you picked up the vehicle at the earliest possible time of 8 am).
