Buy.com incompetent and dishonest California
I purchased an external hardrive with gift certificates for Buy.com. The hardrive was $169.99. I had $161.42 in gift certificates in my account that I applied to the purchase. I owed $8.57 which I placed on my credit card. I knew something was wrong when the total came to $169.99. I called right away to report the error. I was told there was nothing they could do and I should just buy something else with the gift certificates!
I made this purchase because I had the gift certificates! The person on the phone also accused me of not filling out the order correctly. I work in information technology and I KNOW how to place an order online. Frequent requests to speak to a supervisor got me nowhere. It is now 2 months later and all I get is computer generated answers to my 12 e-mails about the problem. The credit card company is removing the charge for me. So...now I have an "unopened" hard drive that I attempted to return. Catch 22...they don't take returns of hard drives! Stay away from them. I can't understand why consumer affairs of California has not gone after them.
