You may not have notice or not been home to get the letter but CRE has changed their insurance again. Before you ask what does this have to do with you read the fine print. They have lowered their cargo liability limit to $20,000. After much investigation i have learned that this means the following;

if you have a claim and you are not found negligent you will pay only $1,000 detuctable.

If you have a claim and you are found negligent in any way the insurance will only cover the first $20,000 of the claim. After that you pay the rest.

Now i have 2 questions for you..

How many loads have you pulled worth less than $20,000?

How many times have they not found the driver negligent?

CRE claims they very rarely charge a driver for the load but that is also in the past and as all that have worked for cre for a long time know the company has and is still changing.

Just be aware

Is CRE a good company.. well it is a large company like any other with it's good and bad points. The biggest problem now is that they have changed their focus from being a good trucking company to a training company. This leaves the drivers with more than a year experience very rare and frustrated. Ontime delivery and company reputation are so low it is a wonder how they stay in business at all.

Last question for all the drivers out there...

How does a Trainer that has never driven in winter conditions train another driver to do so safely?

I too, found out the value of those dollars spent on cargo insurance. Leased out to CR England, I picked up a pre-loaded trailer from Nestles. There were 3 drops in the Chicago area. Drop #2 stated the shipment was shorted but not unusual. I failed to make the call into the 'claims' dept, due to the fact I had only a half hour to make it to the next drop before they closed. By that time, CRE was closed up for the day. Two months later, it came back to bite me in the butt. The claims dept. socked me with a $700 fine for the shorted load. It didn't come out of insurance. It came out of my pocket.
