My family purchased a Cal Spa Hot Tub in 2002 at a price of $7,000. We felt that this would be an enjoyable purchase. However, this is not the case. We have had several issues with this hot tub and as a result of the many issues we have not used the hot tub more than 50 times since ownership. We have taken care of the majority of this issues our self, however this latest one is what has prompted me to write.

The majority of the jets have fallen apart and are not useable. The plastic tabs broke off of the jet inserts and the plastic will literally fall apart in your hand. Unfortunately the company that we purchased the hot tub from is now out of business. I contacted Cal Spa direct and was told that I had to go through a dealer to purchase more jets as they are not covered. (I have found may issues posted on the Internet in regards to the same thing happening to other cal spa customers)

After contacting a few of our local (up to 75 miles away) distributors, I was left with the feeling that it was too time consuming and not profitable enough to order the jets for us. We then contacted the company management and were told to call a dealer in California. At this time the cost of the jets and shipping are just too high. It has been one year and this issue is still not resolved. When I questioned the issue with the jets with the Company I was told that it was our water.

I explained to them that we have city water and maintained the hot tub specifically as we were instructed in our owners manual. At that point they blamed it on whatever chemicals that we had used. I explained that we had only used what was recommended by the company we purchased the hot tub from. I have never been prompted to write about any purchase I have made, but this has left us frustrated with many hours spent making phone calls and searching the Internet and not enjoying our hot tub.

If you are still interested in replacing your jets I may be able to help.

As you know, the jets in your tub were not covered by the 5-year equipment or 5-year plumbing warranties. Both these warranties would have expired in 2007.

You would have to pay for the jets but I would be willing to sell them to you at cost + frieght + 15%.

Contact me if you are interested. I would need the serial number of your hot tub before I can order parts. You can find the serial number on a metal plate on the outside of yoru tub.

Sincerely,

Tom Davis, Owner, County Pool & Spa, San Diego, CA [email protected]
