Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Got a letter from them today for an old Discover Card debt. They say I owe $3013.07.

Says they purchased the account from Midland Receivables Corp.I estimate the debt to have been charged off about 10 years ago.

My credit is now excellent and I can't remember the last time I heard from someone trying to collect the debt.

Looking at the other posts I assume I'll start to get harassassing phone calls sometime soon.

Luckily I've read enough on this site to know I don't have to pay but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to handle this.

Hey I'm the first to admit that I screwed up but that was a long time ago and as one of the posts stated......I have no business with Camco. I've served my penalty with years of bad credit and I definitely learned my lesson. My credit is now excellent so I must be doing something right. As far as Bonnies comments about people like me making the interest rates high for everyone, if you have good credit you can get a low rate credit card, I have a card with a 7.99% fixed rate and get multiple similar offers every week. If shes so perfect what is she doing on this message board anyway. Just a side note, its been almost 2 months since I received that letter and Camco still hasn't called yet???????

Bonnie, I question your logic that paying Scamco will make ammends for not paying a prior debt. Scamco does not have a binding contract with this individual and are simply bottom-feeding opportunists taking advantage of indivduals who do not understand the laws, are easily intimidated, etc. Presumably this person has "made it right" through 7 years of negative credit. The lesson seems to be learned as Kevin states his credit is now excellent. The SOL was written into law to protect individual's rights. Are you suggesting that this needs to be eliminated?

with your self righteous garbage. Anyone who purposely pays off Scamco needs their head checked especially if they do it for moral reasons. Camco is an abusive company that breaks multiple laws 99% of the time they call. Perhaps if my children were starving I should go out and rob someone to help feed them. That is the equivalent of what camco is doing but they are doing it to line their own greedy pockets and do not care who they run over to get there. If you read 1% of the over 700 emails I have received from scamco's victims you would cease posting your drivel here and take up the fight to stop the harrassment and abuse. Anyone who learned the basis for good and evil in preschool would make the right decision.
