I paid Capital Home Shield to put warranty on our house for a whole year. I called them for the first time a few weeks ago to let them know my cooktop has been flashing error codes. They sent someone out to diagnosis the cooktop and they found the computer part of the cooktop needs to be replaced. The service man called Capital Home Shield only to be told they will let us know if they will pay to fix it. I've been calling them everyday for the past few weeks and was told, "someone will get back to you on that." Of course no one has called me back, not even once. I've been put on hold for 45 minutes and transferred and most times, my call would get hung up on. I'm so ferrous, I've called my credit card company and I've filed a scam case against Capital Home Shield. They've been refusing to give me a straight answer as to why they will not pay for the maintenance on my cooktop.
The representative that signed me up stated that they cover all my home systems and appliances regardless of age and without a home inspection, as long as they are in good working order and properly maintained on the contract effective date. This was also reiterated in the conformation email I received after I signed up email is attached.
On the contract effective date, the cooktop was in good working order and properly maintained according to the manufacturers maintenance requirements. Save yourself time and money and go with another home warranty company!

After seeing all the complaints, I also decided to cancell my two policies with Capital Home Shields which I bought in August 2010. I sent them several emails, since ther phone lines were "down with technical diffiulties" I then contacted Allied Wallet who billed and charged my credit card. After talking to a supervisor and a followup call they promised a refund with in 7 to 10 days. I wasnt holding my breath becuase I thought it was all a scam but 6 days later I got my full refund!! Pass this on too anyone else who has been scammed by Capital Home shields. Have them contact Allied Wallet at 1-888-255-1137

A representative from Capital Home Shield called me back and my claim was accepted. They said they will have someone come out to my house this week to fix my cooktop. I'm optimistic and I'm starting to change my mind about them. They seem like a great company and I just needed to be more patient. Once they follow through with fixing my cooktop, I'll be more than happy to refer them to my family and friends.

I got a policy from Capital Home Shield. I had an issue and Capital resolved it. I would highly recommend using Capital Home Shield as a home warranty company.
