Well I just received a letter in the mail today, saying i owe cardservice international 3,700 dollars. If I don't pay it they will supposedly put it on my credit report and legal action may be involved as well!!!

I opened my merchant account for 7 Months, and NEVER even USED it AND they want me to pay them 3,700 dollars. THATS A RIPOFF.

So I NICELY tried calling them to straighten this out, cause surely it was a mistake. RIGHT?

Well I talk to a gentleman named Travis and asked him WHY I owe 3700 dollars when I closed my account 7 months after I opened it and never used it, AND the proposed fee was like $120 a month.

He just said it was how much I owed on the non-cancellable lease!!!

Then told me i had to talk to the collections department!!!!

Why do I need to talk to collections?? All they wanted to do was TELL me to pay the bill!!

So after calling AGAIN, and AGAIN,and getting the same RUN - around I just decided to FILE a RIPOFF REPORT.

ITS obvious they don't want to try to straighten this out, or even try talking to me about this. At first I didn't know what to do, they wouldn't even work with me on paying off the $3700 that they claim that I owe. They wanted the whole $3,700 immediately. Then they kept threatening to file police reports and send my account to their legal department. All they want to do is MAKE A FEW QUICK BUICKS!!!

I think I should have to pay something for opening a merchant account for those seven months, and then cancelling it. BUT $3,700 DOLLARS seems extremely steep to me.

I've taken it to my family lawyer who is looking over the "contracts" I signed and working on filing a suit against this company.

I don't know what to do, this company has threatened me, which I've filed a complaint with the Federal Trade commission over, and the threats STILL keep coming, and talked to a credit counseling agency who told me to offer them a percentage of what they claim I owe, just to get it over with. I tried that too and STILL they call and call and call.

All I wanted to do was work something out, but I'm NOT paying $3,700 for an account I didn't even use. At $120 a month, 7 months having the account, which was FINALLY closed April 1st after several months of requesting the cancellation, this account should cost around $840. Where the hell did the other $2,860 come from???

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. Unfortunately it sounds like you signed a very high lease for the equipment...this is separate from any Processing Agreement you signed with them. Basically, your Rep made tons off of you and the lease and you will not get out of paying it. Read anything you sign carefully!
