I canceled my account in July 2007. I was told I had to pay a fee of $75.00 and that the account would be closed at the end of July. It is October and I am still be charged. I faxed over the original cancellation form again and included proof of faxing it the first time from my online fax service.

After making the complaint above to the Better Business Bureau, I received this response:

"To Whom It May Concern:

Cardservice International is in receipt of the merchants fax confirmation list indicating Cardservice Internationals closure fax number of (805) 552-8613 was dialed on July 10, 2007. However, Cardservice Internationals records indicate that the merchant utilized the account on July 27, 2007 but submitting a MasterCard sale of $50.00. Said sale was funded to the merchants designated settlement account on July 28, 2007.

Furthermore, the merchant again utilized the account on September 4, 2007 by processing a $100.00 authorization for an American Express sale.

Based on the totality of the circumstances Cardservice International must deny the merchants request for a refund.

My reply:

"I do not recall the authorization on the 4th of September for $100. It could have been done by one of our employees that used the service in error. It was my understanding that the service would have been terminated at the end of the month of July. That is the reason for the charge in July.

Had the service been canceled as requested we would not have been able to use the service on purpose or by mistake.

I am appalled that this is the outcome and refuse to accept this as final."

I have decided I will post my story anywhere allowed. I see that I am not the only one that has had a horrible experience with this company. Hopefully I can help someone avoid the mistake I made.
