I recently purchased a 2003 Econoline Van from Carmax Orlando. About three weeks into driving it started sputtering and misfiring badly.I took it into the shop, (2 days) down. They replaced the coil.

A week later on my way to work it startes the same thing! Misfiring badly.I was two days out of my 30 day warranty, theye honored the repair the second time but would not offer a loaner vehicle or a tow as it was undrivable and two days over 30 day warranty. On my way to pick it up but the sereveice manager tells me it's the same part! He tells me, "We used aftermarket parts" whwich failed! This time we used genuine Ford parts!"

OK Four more days down without a vehicle, $130.00 towing bill which could have been avoided had Carmax service did it right the first time!

Beware Folks! If you shop here the customer service declines when you sold and walk out of the door. Buy

that extended warranty!!

Will keep you posted on this one!

Here I was acting more forgiving about the Carmax maintenance shop in another thread at this site because my experience was about ten years ago. Yet here it seems their mechanics practice the same old bad business. I also notice one defensive poster determined to defend the mechanics' bad workmanship there. No defense over financing disagreements, resale values, etc. Just the issues over the mechanics at their maintenance shop. Hmmmm....

Unfortunately they didnt do anything wrong. They tried to fix it and the same part broke again right after. Stuff like this happens all the time. You should be happy that they decided to honor it the second time around. They had every legal right to tell you to screw off. Maybe if youre so worried about having to buy a rental when something goes wrong with a car, you should just buy a new car next time. You run a certain risk with buying used cars which is inherent with the fact that they are just that... used cars. Try going to one of these small mom and pop used car dealerships on the side of the road. See if they give you a rental and a tow even once... Not likely
