And that is why each room is provided with a working safe for YOU to protect YOUR items. You are as responsible for your own items on a ship as you are on land. You can lead a horse to water ....

Even though this is an old post, I would like to comment on Peter, who asked why anyone would want to steal a passport. FYI, the going rate for an American passport on the black market, especially a "clean" one is around $10,000. Don't ask me how I know, but I know. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER leave your passport where anyone can get a hold of it, especially foreigners. Remember, ten grand is more then a lot of these third worlders make in 10 years. Rusty

We just returned from a 7 night Carnival Cruise on the Conquest out of Galveston. It was very clean, the food wonderful, the service was great and the people honest. My husband lost his sail and sign card in the casino. It was turned in and nothing charged to it. I left money as well as jewelry laying out on the dresser and nothing was ever taken or went 'missing'. One of our fellow diners left his new, very expensive video/digital camera in one of the lounges. He went down to the lobby the next morning and it had been turned in by a crew member. In all three instances, crew members could have lined their pockets, but none did. We normally lock all our valuables and important documents up, not so much from possible dishonest stewards, but to make sure we don't misplace or lose them. This was not our first cruise experience, and not the first with Carnival. So far, all have been great. We are now in the process of planning our next cruise and very much looking forward to many more...

From some of the comments I've read here, I can't believe I was on the same cruise line or the same ship. The service was great, the employees were friendly and helpful, the hip and my cabin were clean and the food was wonderful (and I know good and bad food when I see and taste it). It was a fun time for a great price. I can't wait to go again!

After reading all posts here I see that Carnival is exactly how we witnessed them. Carnival Cruise Lines has not changed a bit even in the past SIX YEARS??, huh?...and INFACT has gotten so bad not one person can trust ever taking a cruise and being treated like a respected customer. Our Own Personal Complaint Against Carnival will appear soon--it has taken us a while to thoroughly research all that took place, make many phone calls, letters, with much information! We had SO many complaints against Carnival and The Customs at Cape Canavrel, Florida--their Cruise has "COST" us more than too much money--Way Too Much Negative Time Spent for anyone! Our believeth is--If you GOT RIPPED OFF--LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT--WAY IT STANDS! BEWARE CRUISERS!

I doubt the Original Poster is going to be crying you a river. I doubt indeed that he will even read your witty commentary....because...drum roll..wait, wait for it..: The orignal posting was made SIX years ago.. and now back to your regularly scheduled programme..

Why in the world would someone want to "steal" your IDs??!! Obviously the problem here was that you were irresponsible and could not keep track of your IDs yourself. When they got lost, an employee found them and secured them in a locker until he could turn them in. Then, the cruise staff was nice enough to tell you that they were found and where they could be picked up. What are you complaining about then???!! The only thing you should be whining about is your own stupidity and lack of appreciation toward those who help you!!

We completely agree with the individual who filed this report! We will NEVER recommend Carnival Cruise Lines to anyone ever at any time! Watch for our own RipOff Report on Carnival Cruise lines on this website! When we tell our story to others about our BAD experience on Carnival Cruise Lines--there was two of us affected by this horrible ordeal so we have witness to the same cruise to the Bahamas-people stand with their mouths open in disbelief-we could not believe it ourselves!!--we were living a nightmare!--14 horrible things we tried to complain to their legal dept.-once back on land-and the gal who answered the telephone in their legal dept. immediately would not listen to one complaint my fiancee was telling her and put out all the STOPS. She told her she had to CALL Customs and complain. My fiancee told her she and I had complaints against Carnival Cruise Lines in regard to our cruise just taken. She just hurridly made every attempt to get rid of her with unprofessional, poor behavior. When she tried to explain what had happened to us--this woman would not listen. My fiancee repeated to her that we had complaints against THEIR cruise line--she didn't want to hear it. Carnival Cruise lines is a CHEAP OUTFIT that lies up front, makes promises they do not keep, discriminates against U.S. Citizens--they prefer foreign trade and employees and press the issue on you while on the boat, have hidden costs, unhealthy conditions, and they do not uphold what they maintain they guarantee on their cruises. This was our very First One and Only Cruise ever taken and we will NEVER do another Cruise as long as we live! My fiancee was just glad she had taken this cruise plan slow and easy by only doing a 3 DAY-2 NIGHT Cruise-paying the least amount of money possible-because if we would have had to be on that boat just one more day I believe we would have lost our minds in total disgust and frustration! We did not know that we would need to bring a deck of playing cards just to find something we could entertain ourselves--and feeling safer remaining in our cabin. Beware Cruisers and Travelers--You Will Be Sorry if you ever cruise Carnival! Since being back from our cruise with Carnival Lines we have talked to MANY others who have cruised with Carnival who also made the same mistake as we did--and who state they, too, will NEVER cruise Carnival Cruise Lines ever again also! We will be developing a Chat Line for Cruisers on the Internet to discuss all cruise trips--about all Cruise Lines-in regard to past experiences-with the hopes of others able to avoid living these horrible, frightening, awful experiences that a cruise and/or Carnival Lines provides to consumers.

I can understand your frustration as this is sure to be aggervating. I too took a cruise on one of Carnivals ships. It was incredible. Do you really find it fair to judge an entire organization and everybody working there by one dishonest person. Lock boxes with keys are provided in every room, that is for the saftey of your precious belongings, the things you wish to keep safe should be held there. Sure you dont expect nor should tolerate anyone stealing from you, but can you honestly say you can pinpoint exactly who someone is or the kind of person they are in the time of an interview. I acknowledge that employees should have a backround check, however you cannot see a criminal in someone until they commit a crime. I left many personal belongings out and none of which were even moved from the place they were left, I had a wonderful attendent who kept my room in perfect condition, and everything I wanted or need just a request away. I would never use another cruise line as Carnival Cruise Line was more than I could ever ask for. Every employee took the time to be friendly and eager to help, I even got my room upgraded 2 levels at no additional cost just for booking early. I think you should give Carnival another try, you may end up as impressed as me
