Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I made a contract with a "friend" who sells buildings for Carolina Carports, I entered into the agreement , put a down payment and was told that it would be about 4 wks before I was scheduled. No problem.

I was called by CCI (carolina carports) about 3 wks and they gave me 2 day notice that the crew would be at my house- I already had plans so I told them put me on the next schedule- they called and rescheduled me for 2 wks down the road- that's fine.

I wait all day on the scheduled day- only to check in with at the last minute before their office closed for the day to find out "Oh we have you down for next week"- no courtesy call- no email nothing-

and I can't get my down payment back so that I can get a "reputable" company to put my carport up

Is there no companies in America that are reputable enough to do the job they get paid to do?? and without trying to lie to and rip off the consumer?? if so PLEASE let me know where they are I would love to do business with a solid reputable company that won't steal from me

You should read my company's recent complaint herein too against CCI. We live in NC and found them out on a contract we had too, and they pulled out, renegged on completing our order. We went to Atty. General, BBB and also legal council and finally got our money back.

The truth in all these companies like CCI, is they are a "cookie cutter" outfit, and unelss you have a nice perfect concrete pad ready and can use a certain size, they are no good as my company found out. We had a customer needing a "custom sized" product to meet his building permit requirements and replacement of an earlier one ruined from a storm. They mislead me and we even gave deposit monies and signed agreement with the company directly (they initially welcomed us as a new business direct customer), until we found troubles and confronted their GM about it- all of a sudden seeing her get nasty and try to defame my business and person as "troublemakers". It is a slim-line tubular steel low quality product they sell at best.

But here in NC, every mom & pop storage bldg lot or similar is pushing these and supposed low prices, but this is where you get hooked. CCI likes 3rd party brokers and how they operate is the 3rd party broker knows little to nothing about your need or site. They take your order, send it to CCI mfg in Dobson, but the 10% you put down stays with the broker/dealer and not to CCI. That is the broker's commission fast & upfront as markup on these low line carports is slim around 10-15% max only. These pumpers care about an easy buck and that is all and so CCI feeds upon them we found out. Once you pay this 10% down, they (broker) now disappears from the picture. CCI, at is own discretion, may or may not produce your needed bldg and if they feel you are being "pushy" they will play games with you and usually requiring more monies and eventually send something to your site that may or may not be really what you wanted to begin with. The 3 Mexican subcontractors they use cannot even communicate with you which adds more confusion to the mix.

CCI knows the avenues you have as a consumer, and they know 99% of the time, nothing will come of it as most people give in and walk away paying for something they did not really want and they simply do not care. They do nothing "customized" as our busienss was lead to believe- and we remodel and repair for a living and they even duped us initially until we found they misrepresented the facts to us and could not supply our needs.

You have to realize, there are maybe 4 real steel type manufacturers nationally who supply product for the residential/light ag market and why there is a flood of cheap cookie cutter carport companies & broker/dealers out there who do not nor cannot provide what most people expect when they see those flooded adds in all the local papers, etc. We now deal directly to one such steel manufacturing firm and they have a line of heavier built better quality metal garages/carports than what CC ever imagined building. We are going to use this resource for our customers' needs in the future now and turn people away from CCI because of what they did to us and our customer.
