Carolina Furniture/ H.R. Privette Carolina Furniture takes money and does not deliver furniture fraudulent ripoff business Calabash North Carolina .....

The website for Carolina Furniture indicated that they carried Pennsylvania House Furniture. I contacted CF and asked for a quote on the Old Havanna bedroom collection.

The quote was $2,000 less than anyone else. The order was confirmed with a $100 credit card deposit. A contract was mailed to me in early July 2002 with the request for a 50% deposit ($4,198.00). The deposit was mailed with a signed copy of the contract.

Delivery from CF was promised the 1st week of October. It is now January 2003 and I have no furniture or the return of my deposit.

I have been working with the AG's office, and at this time they have over 200 complaints regarding Mr. Privette and Carolina Furniture.

This is not a reputable company. Mr. Privette was ousted from SC for the same fraudulant acts and was recently arrested at his Calabash location for internet fraud.

I have called CF numerous times and it appears that his original staff is no longer there. Either voice mail answers or the alledged warehouse people answer. No one knows anything.

At this time the CF website is still in operation which means that Mr. Privette is still collecting deposits. I have involved other departments within the state attempting to get my money back.

If anyone else has had success other than Scott I would like to know.

Carolina Furniture website update

I can't believe that CF has added a special "update" feature to their website. You can now access the status of your order by going into www.carolinafurniture.com and choosing the "update" option. Interestingly enough their is a "no status" message for my order. If you want an interesting feel for the local law enforcement methodology regarding HR Privette, try calling the Brunswick County Sheriff Department to file a complaint. They indicated to me that they had shut down HR & Carolina Furniture because they confiscated his phones and computers. When I expalined to them that CF still had an 800 phone number and website, they patiently explained to me that this could not be correct because they had removed all of his phones and computers. I explained to them that I was currently looking at the CF website and they still concluded this was not correct because HR had no computers. I almost went over the edge. It is apparent that the state of North Carolina is totally lacking in any type of enforcement regarding this type of criminal behavior. Possibly everyone needs to contact Seneator Basnights office and ask that some pressure be placed on local or federal law enforcement to move forward with shutting CF down. The AG's office does not have the legal ability to file charges. It is up to the local law enforcment departments to carry out the arrests, and I was told that out of state furniture rip off problems do not take presidence over local law enforcement problems.
